The soccer betting odds are essentially in line with what you'd expect. Tottenham is the favorite at -200, while Newcastle comes in with a +600 price-tag on their heads. A draw would pay out +325 at most sportsbooks.
While it certainly hasn't been the most convincing couple of weeks for Adnres Villas-Boas' crew, they're still been finding ways to claw out wins and that's all that really matters.
Tottenham held off Hull City in the Capital One Cup and then drew Everton 0-0 in the Premier League. During the week, they faced off against Sheriff Tiraspol at home and ended up winning 2-1.
It took a while for Spurs to get off the mark, with the first half ending at a 0-0 deadlock. However, Erik Lamela was at his best and put in his best shift for his new club and was rewarded with a goal in the 60th minute. Seven minutes later, Jermain Defoe converted from the penalty spot, which ended up being a needed goal after Ismail Isa pegged one back for the visitors.
Villas-Boas fielded a strong starting XI that featured Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen, and Kyle Walker, but he was also able to rest the likes of Hugo Lloris, Michael Dawson, Andros Townsend, Vlad Chiriches, Roberto Soldado and Aaron Lennon. Paulinho and Lewis Holtby came in off the bench.
It'll be interesting to see what kind of lineup AVB rolls with this weekend with so many talented options at his disposal.
Following successive defeats to Sunderland (in the Premier League) and Manchester City (in the Capital One Cup), the Magpies responded brilliantly by overpowering Chelsea in a 2-0 win at home.
It was the best effort of the season from a Newcastle side that's been as inconsistent as they come.
Winning in the Premier League is a morale-booster in itself, but doing so over a powerhouse like Chelsea takes it to another level. Yoan Gouffran and Loic Remy were the goalscorers, with the latter scoring in the closing minutes to seal the victory.
With that win, the Magpies moved into a tie with Manchester United for eighth, having picked up four wins, two draws, and four losses in 10 matches so far.
Remy has been the main inspiration for the side this season, scoring a team-high six goals in the campaign. Hatem Ben Arfa's play shouldn't go unnoticed either. Let's see what kind of impact the pair can have on Sunday.

What a tough stretch for Newcastle. They play Chelsea and Tottenham back-to-back, but thankfully they've had a full eight days to rest and get ready for this match.
Meanwhile, Spurs had to play mid-week in another challenging competition fixture, so some of the legs could be a little tired here.
Still, Tottenham possesses so much quality that we can't pick against them, especially at White Hart Lane. The likes of Lloris, Dawson, Townsend and Paulinho should return to the starting XI and, in the end, we believe Spurs will escape with another highly important three points for our soccer picks.
