Last weekend, Granada closed to the edge of safety while Valencia kept hope alive for a fourth place finish. What will the clash between the pair on Sunday deliver? Read up on our free picks for this potentially decisive matchup between Valencia and Granada.

Valencia keeps pressure up on Real Sociedad

In the battle for a fourth place in La Liga, Valencia kept their hopes alive with a 1-0 victory over Getafe last weekend. The victory marked their third straight following back-to-back 4-0 victories over Osasuna and Rayo Vallecano. As you can see, it was their third straight clean sheet as well. With two weeks to go, Valencia cannot afford to let up. Not when Real Sociedad isn’t showing any signs of budging as they maintained the edge in the table with a 2-1 victory over Seville the same day.

Valencia host Granada on Sunday at the Estadio de Mestalla in Valencia and they go into the clash as the firm favourites across the board. William Hill installs Los Che as the whopping -400 betting odds favourites while Ladbrokes serves them up at 4/15 betting odds.

Valencia rides good home form into the weekend having maintained an undefeated record in their last six engagements – five wins and a draw. Their last two home victories were rather lopsided affairs a 5-1 thrashing of Malaga and a 4-0 humbling of relegation threatened Osasuna. Speaking of which correct score betting markets that favour of Valencia are leaning towards a 2-0 score that is set at +650 betting odds. A 3-0 score however is tipped just above at +700 while a 2-1 score can be added to your soccer picks at +800.

Granada desperate for La Liga survival

Granada moved to the edge of safety with a 3-0 victory over Osasuna in their last turn around La Liga. They are now three points clear of Osasuna (in 16th place) and four points clear of Deportivo La Coruna (in 17th spot and just above the drop zone). More likely than not Granada is going to be safe for another La Liga season but with two weeks left it’s best not to leave anything for chance.

Soccer odds for a win over Valencia though aren’t encouraging with Granada listed at outrageously far-flung betting odds of +1100 at William Hill. Ladbrokes are offering up the win for a little less at 9/1 odds.

Granada remains undefeated in their last five games with three wins and two draws. Crucially, four fixtures of those were against higher ranked teams – wins over Espanyol and Malaga, respectively; draws against Real Sociedad and Real Valladolid, respectively.

Having said that Granada struggles with consistency on the road, they are only 3-3-4 in their last ten away fixtures. Moreover, in those fixtures, they were held scoreless – including a lopsided 5-0 thrashing by Atletico Madrid.

Making things even worse for the visitors is the fact that they’ve never beaten Valencia. Granted, these two clubs have only ever played three whole matches on account of Granada’s recent rise in Spanish football. Nevertheless a win over Valencia would be a departure, an upset that few would willingly back at the moment. Small comfort: Granada was respectable in all three losses, losing by just a goal.

Soccer Betting Verdict: Everything is pointing towards a Valencia victory. Overall, Valencia is the stronger side with a deeper and more talented bench. As well, Los Che are on a tear right now, enjoying a rich vein of form that is fuelled by a determination to bank fourth place in La Liga. Granada’s survival in La Liga will be on the team’s mind which means they’ll put up a good fight. Past meetings between these clubs add weight to such an expectation. In the end, however, expect Valencia to be too strong for Granada and traipse to victory before their fans.
