The Champions League is really the big one in European football, don’t believe me… just ask Arsenal how much it means. The Gunners collected all three points from Sunday’s trip to St James’ Park, to ensure Champions League qualification at the expense of their local rivals, Spurs (by a single point). It marks a remarkable turn of event for Arsenal who needed an unbeaten run of 10 games, to clinch a 17th successive Champions League campaign. But that’s for next year’s completion.

Enough with next year…WHERE’S THE MIONEY MIKE?
As these sorts of finals are notoriously tough to call (Ahem Wigan winning the FA Cup anyone?) the sportsbooks are playing it safe. A Bayern Munich win is at ¾ while a Dortmund win is at 7/2, should the sides even each other out you can get 11/4 on the game ending drawn.
The clever better will be chuckling all the way to the bank regales of the winner if they’d picked up odds of 3/1 on the nationality of the winning side being German, but hindsight is a very poor currency with your Humble Handicapper. But you might like to know that you can pick up of soccer odds of 11/4 on a German side lifting the trophy next year.
For Bayern Munich it’s their third attempt in four years to take home the elusive continental cup, following defeats to Inter Milan in 2010 and (somehow) Chelsea last year, and will be hoping it’s third time lucky as they aim to be crowned European champions. They can be added to your soccer picks at 4/9 to have their wish come true.
Ow my leg!
They may well be lifted by the news that Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels is a doubt for the final on May 25 after the weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. Less positive (for Bayern) is the news that Mario Gotze continues his positive steps towards full fitness and joined in light training this week.
Also Dortmund have not won any of their last four games, going down against Real Madrid and Hoffenheim, and drawing with Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg, but Arjen Robben is frantic to guide Bayern Munich to victory on Saturday at Wembley.
Scores on the doors
Saturday's encounter at Wembley kicks off at 19:45, but if you needed me to tell you that you’re probably on the wrong website.
The bookies have the shortest correct score odds on 1-1 at 6/1 (pah to a draw!) swiftly followed by Bayernm Munich winning 1-0 and 2-1 at 7/1. The shortest correct score odds on a Dortmund win are on 2-1 at 15/1 the same as a 2-2 draw.
I’m with the bookies on this one, and will be expecting a Munich victory by the final whistle on Saturday.Prediction: 3-1 to Bayern Munich at 14/1 worth Coral.
