If you follow your Humble Handicapper’s tips you can be just as much a winner as the “other side” in Madrid.
Just because it's early days in season, and this is something that we always do, it is worth noting what the bookies seem to think of the sides chances of winning the biggest prize in Spanish football, the top flight trophy.
All about the silverware (what are you Raffles?)
Everybody knows that there's only really two teams in Spain that have got any chance of lifting the shiny piece of silverware but it's worth mentioning that the bookmakers have got wise to this and are offering up a second place prize league prize which basically draws a blue line through both of the big two teams in Spain.
While the bookies have Atlético Madrid as high as 100/1 to win the league, and also as low as 50/1 that's still a very poor third behind Barcelona and real Madrid.
The thing is even less likely for Sevilla who runs as high as 350/1 with Ladbrokes and as low as 250/1 with bet365. It is pretty much inconceivable that they will get anywhere near the top of the table by the end of the season.
Enough already with the league winners…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?
No, I haven't finished yet Atlético Madrid are the bookies favourite running as high as 11/8 with Paddy Power and as low as 5/4 with bwin to in the league excluding the big two. Sevilla run as high as 14/1 for our soccer picks, but the tightest odds you can get on them are at 8/1 up with BetFred.
Ahead of Sevilla are Real Sociedad and Valencia, and the aforementioned Atlético Madrid.
That should tell you who's got the better chance of doing well this season but what you probably really want to know is who will win the game this weekend.
The sports books fancy Atlético Madrid to do this one and the best odds that I can find are 13/8 with Stan James although they do go as low as 6/4 with Bet365, Ladbrokes, Coral, William Hill, and many other sports books.
By comparison Sevilla are 9/15 bet365 and Bet Victor and 7/4 with Paddy Power and Ladbrokes. I have to admit I'm going with this sports books on this one as I can't see Sevilla taking this game.
Home is Where the Points Are...
I'm sure you let me know that there is home advantage of Sevilla's side but in the last five games between the two sides Atlético have, come out on top three times and the other two games ended drawn. Therefore you should start your on Atlético winning although if you're feeling fruity you might go for the long odds which is a draw at 12/5 with Stan James.
However that is not where I'm going to be investing my wife's shoe fund.
These games have usually been close run affairs with only one match, a 4-0 victory for Madrid back in November 2012 that saw the game decided by anything more than a single goal. A repeat of that score is at highly unlikely at huge betting odds of 66/1 with Bet Victor. But that is only just ahead of Sevilla winning by the same score which is at 70/1.
Madrid winning 2-0 is at a very impressive 14/1 while Sevilla the winning by the same score is 15/1. But I'm betting the game will be ever so slightly closer than that, but I'm still going for an away victory.
Free Soccer Picks: Atlético Madrid win 2-1 available at 10/1 with Ladbrokes.
