Two Champions League sides meet up in a league showdown this weekend. Are we putting our money on Dortmund or Schalke with our soccer picks?

Odds Overview

It's never easy against an opponent like Dortmund, and the soccer odds reflect that this Saturday. The visitors are favored in the -120 to -125 range, with Schalke at approximately +350.

There's always a good chance Dortmund will put in at least a couple goals, which is why the O/U of three goals has become the primary offering. Right now the OVER is trading at -105 and the UNDER's at -115.

2014 Champions League Future Odds

Schalke 04

The Royal Blues were in great form until Chelsea came in and stomped all over them in Champions League play.

Having gone unbeaten in five straight matches, which included three Bundesliga wins and a 1-0 away win over FC Basel in Europe, Schalke was expected to give the Blues a much tougher fight than they did in mid-week.

As it turns out, Chelsea came in and dominated proceedings, winning thanks to a Fernando Torres brace and an insurance goal from Eden Hazard. Schalke had their fair share of chances, forcing five saves out of Petr Cech, but Torres early goal set the tone and he then put the match out of reach midway through the second half.

Back in domestic action, let's see how the Royal Blues respond to a little adversity.

The home form has been shaky for Schalke. They're had two wins, one draw, and one loss in four matches, while scoring nine and allowing in eight. That's not a very good sign with a great attacking side in Dortmund coming to town.

Borussia Dortmund

All is well for Dortmund.

After barely holding on for a 1-0 home win over Hannover in the league, the Prussians took that winning mentality into London and beat current Premier League leaders Arsenal in a 2-1 decision.

Olivier Giroud had canceled out Henrik Mkhitaryan's early goal as the teams went into halftime, but the heroics from Dortmund were saved for the dying moments. With under 10 minutes to go, Robert Lewandowski volleyed home and gave the German side a precious three points in the group stages.

In the Bundesliga, Dortmund is still in a heated fight with Bayern Munich and a rejuvenated Bayer Leverkusen, with the three teams separated by a single point. Bayern is currently atop the table, but it's certainly an exciting time in Germany's top-flight competition right now.

The Prussians are going to milk everything they can get out of Lewandowski before he moves on to bigger and better things, but there's still a lot to be excited about. Marco Reus has five goals and three assists already this season, while Mkhitaryan has scored three times in domestic play heading into the weekend.

Bundesliga Pick

Curious as to what happened when Dortmund and Schalke played each other last season?

Well, you may be surprised to know the Royal Blues won both matches 2-1, which includes a rare win for the visitors inside Signal Iduna Park.

It must be said though that this Schalke side has a much different look to it this season. Lewis Holtby has moved on to Tottenham, Ibrahim Afellay now plies his trade for Barcelona, while star striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has been ruled out until the new year. Let's not forget about injuries to Jefferson Farfan, Marco Hoger, and Kyriakos Papadopoulos either.

With that said, we don't see how the short-handed Schalke will be able to match Dortmund's clinical finishing ability, regardless of whether or not they have the home support behind them. For your soccer pick back a win for the away side at these reasonable good odds.
