Friday night’s Serie A game promises to be a good one, as two evenly matched sides battle it out in Rome. How should soccer bettors expect their matchup to play out this week?

When you talk about a top table clash in Serie A, you normally think of Juventus versus AC Milan, or maybe something involving Internatzionale. Not in 2013, though. Juve lie third on the back of a vastly inferior goal difference, Inter are a long way off the pace in fourth and AC, well, they’re down in twelfth place sandwiched between perennial also-rans Atalanta and Livorno.

Instead, it is Roma and Napoli who rule the roost, which makes Friday night’s game a dream match up to end the international week. Roma not only top the table, they’ve won all of their seven games to date and have conceded but a single goal in doing so. Napoli, meanwhile, have let in just four, whilst both sides comfortable average more than 2.5 goals per game themselves.

Roma, understandably, are the soccer odds favorites, best priced at 2.25 with Ladbrokes, whilst Napoli are 3.2 shots at Bet365 and BetVictor will give you 3.6 on the draw.

Bearing in mind that this is Italy, where goals are at a premium, the draw looks to be pretty good value here. You have two sides with tremendous records, neither of whom have lost a game this season and possessing of the two best defences in Serie A. It is very easy to see them cancelling one another out entirely. Goals should certainly be in short supply, despite both teams having such good records on that front, especially as Italian football still operates very much on a ‘defence first’ philosophy. Paddy Power offer 2.5 on one side not to score in this game, which looks a very real possibility, and if you want to take on an even riskier options with your soccer picks, then the 0-0 draw is at 15.0 with William Hill.
