La Liga

There's yet more action to be had in Spain's top-flight when Valladolid host Malaga, and those of you who think that the only way to get any fun and profit out of Spain is to back Barcelona…

After 26 games Malaga are looking like the side that tops the league excluding the top three in La Liga. Barcelona practically have the title already as they are 11 points clear of anyone! Both of the Madrid sides are well above 50 points and Malaga would need to amass 12 points more than Real Madrid to break into the top three.

In Spain it is Barcelona first, Madrid second and then everybody else third.

First amongst almost equals

Fourth placed Malaga have 43 points and a very healthy +13 goal difference they are only one point ahead of Valencia, two points ahead of Real Sociedad, three points ahead of Real Betis and just five points ahead of Getafe and Rayo Vallecano. What I'm saying is, basically there's plenty of sides close behind, who could catch Malaga and Malaga aren't going to get any higher than fourth this term.

Enough with the table place settings…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?

You need to only look as far down the table as 12th place to find Valladolid, they may be only nine points behind Malaga, but there are a full eight places to the bad and they are 12 goals worse off. That gives you the biggest clue about who to back in this game and is probably why the bookies have an away victory at 2/1 and a home victory at 13/8 betting odds.

Valladolid's home record makes reasonably sober reading as they have won five, drawn four and lost four games out of the 13 they’ve played on home turf this season and they have scored just 23 goals, but have conceded 18. Malaga's away record is almost identical they’ve 15 drawn three and lost four scoring 10 and conceding 10 goals in those games. Maybe a draw is the best bet and is something that available at 7/4 and don't stop there, why not back 1-1 at 5/1, if you're that way inclined.

No draws for Mrs Richardson

I don't think this game is going to end drawn despite the fact that two of the last three meetings between these two sides have ended honours even and the fact that both sides shared their points in their last games, both by the same 0-0 scoreline, a repeat of that score is available at 8/1. Malaga will want to get back to winning ways after making its three games on the bounce without a victory, but also three games on the bounce without scoring. Valladolid by comparison have just one win in their last five games but have drawn three of those.

The reverse of this fixture last season saw Malaga come out 2-1 on top and a repeat of that score is available at 11/1 for your soccer picks. If you look further back in the last five meetings Malaga have come out on top three times and the other two games have been drawn. That would suggest if it's not going to be a draw, it's going to be a Malaga victory and that's what I'm putting my money on. Not least because Malaga have out scored Valladolid eight goals to four, in their last five encounters.
