Real Madrid looks to get their 2013 campaign back on course with a home win over mid-table Malaga. Which betting options do we believe offer us the best soccer betting value?

It is fair to say that Real’s campaign to regain their La Liga crown hasn’t got off to the best of starts. Whilst most sides around the world would be glad to have six wins from their opening eight games, that just doesn’t cut it in a league where the two sides vying for top position have yet to lose a game. That one of those sides is Real’s local rivals, Atletico, and that they lost to them in the opening Madrid derby of the year, just increases the sense of urgency around the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Real’s last outing saw them scrape a 3-2 away win over Levante. It was hardly a game to assuage their critics or to inspire confidence in the betting public. Malaga, though, have picked up just nine points this season, have won only two games and lost their last match, at home, to next-to-bottom Osasuna.

A question mark hangs over the big hope for Real’s season, world record signing Gareth Bale. Word is that he needs back surgery, but that the club will try to nurse him through to January, when they can presumably sign another expensive player as cover during the transfer window.

Real are huge the soccer odds favorites for this game, best priced at 1.22 with William Hill. That means that you have to look elsewhere for some betting value. You can get pretty good odds of 2.15 on one side not scoring in this game. That might turn out to be your best bet on this game unless you want to play the correct score market, because the only other option for our soccer picks is betting against there being more than two goals in this game, which is almost as big a risk given Malaga’s form to date.
