This very much a German/Spanish feel to the semi-finals of the Champions League  this year as Barcelona take on Bayern Munich in one and in the other Real Madrid take on Borussia Dortmund.

Your Humble Handicapper expects to make money from both these matches and here is how he expects to win it in the Madrid Dortmund match.

First things first is , Madrid are  2/1 with the bookies to win the Champions League  while Dortmund are 6/1. What's more the Germans are 7/4 to see the final while the Spaniards are 2/5. To be completely complete,  it's worth noting that an all-Spanish final which would be Real Madrid versus Barcelona is at 3/2 and an all-German final is at 41/8 betting odds.

Enough with the final odds…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?

Neither of these two sides had a particularly comfortable progression into the semi-finals although Madrid had done all the hard work beating Galatasaray 3-0 in their home leg, but nearly slipped up when they went 3-2 in Turkey. Those two massive away goals kept their Champions League hopes alive but Galatasaray deserve great credit for putting three past Real Madrid as Manchester United could only score a single goal when they took them on in the previous round.

Dortmund by comparison could only manage a goalless draw their first game against Malaga away, but beat them 3-2 at the home leg to book their place in the semi-final.

Hot off the Press

At time press the German side are undefeated in their last five games and are a three-game winning streak whereas Real Madrid have just a one game winning streak and have won three of their last five with one loss and what draw in that run.

Looking at the last two meetings between the sides in the Champions League it's been very tight the last meeting in Spain ended 2-2 and the one before that in Germany ended 2-1 (to the homes side). A repeat of those scores would seek German side going through but I don’t feel that. It was more telling if you look further back in the past you will see that in August 2009 Real Madrid beat Dortmund 5-0 in a club friendly.

Also looking at the last five games played at a time press Madrid have scored 15 goals while Borussia have scored 15. I think these games should be full of goals and excitement. However, I predict that Real Madrid will make it through for your soccer picks here.

Prediction: Real Madrid go through (to an all Spanish final available) at 2/5 with Bet Online.
