Soccer Picks: Premier League Weekend Rundown

After the reduced menu of games last weekend, due to the FA Cup, we've got a full complement of 10 Premier League matches next weekend and your Humble Handicapper is looking for lots of profit from them.

It was quite mixed bag of results for your Humble Handicapper last weekend, much to the frustration of ‘er indoors but he's still in Mrs Richardson's good books as any failures were soon overtaken by his successes.

First Up... it’s Everton Versus Manchester City.

I think it's going to be a win for City as Everton will be too busy scratching their heads trying to work out what went wrong last weekend when they were beaten in the cup by Wigan. City are still outside bets to win the league at 21/1 but know that every game counts and not a point can be dropped so they’ll likely come out all guns blazing against Everton. Everton by comparison are 6/5 on a top six finish, and will be outclassed by City.

Manchester City win, available at 6/5.

Next up is a classic at the bottom of the table.

The bottom of the EPL is as tight as a miser’s fist, and that gives us this mouth-watering clash of Aston Villa V QPR, Both sides will fancy their chances, QPR, because they won back-to-back games for the first time all season after they took Sunderland down 3-1 while Aston Villa will fancy their chances as they took maximum points from their last game against Reading also a six-pointer.

However I think these sides will even each other out and we’ll see a drawn at 17/7 on the soccer betting odds boards.

Staying down the wrong end of the table,  Southampton will host Liverpool and while the Pool will be flying high after their 3-2 victory over Spurs, Southampton will still be smarting from a three-game winless run. The smart money is on Liverpool in this game, at 4/5 but because Saints are now just four points outside of the drop zone and, would you believe it…five points off the bottom of the table I don't think Liverpool will have an easy afternoon's work.

I'm banking on this game ending drawn which is available at 11/4.

Another side with a bad run of form, is Stoke who almost spoiled your Humble Handicapper’s pick  as they were looking at a 1-1 draw against Newcastle before a last-minute scorcher from Papiss Cisse put more money in my bank, they take on West Bromwich Albion. The baggies have the form but Stoke would probably settle for a draw, ND I feel this is the sort of game which will be decided by a freak goal and I think it can be decided in Stoke favour.

Stock win available at 7/5.

Swansea host Arsenal at three o'clock on Saturday and as Arsenal seem to be the tailspinning I'm tempted to say this is a coin toss. It should be Arsenal and should be a comfortable victory in fact, but Swansea are a tenacious little side and Arsenal are consistently inconsistent this year in the league. An Arsenal victory is available at 11/10 or a draw is at 12/5 and a home victory at 5/2.

This game is either a complete banker or an upset, when league leaders Manchester United host relegation fodder Reading. The odds of Manchester winning a pretty poor 1/6, Reading have to start winning games again and will take a little bit of heart from the fact that Blackburn managed to get a result under similar circumstances against Manchester United. Still it's a brave man who’ll put any money on Reading winning even at 14/2.

United win…

Sunday has plenty of fun starting with Sunderland versus Norwich around lunchtime. Norwich have the form Sunderland have home advantage and with the desperation sneaking into the Black Cats locker room, there should be enough to push the hosts to victory. I'm backing Sunderland victory at 21/20.

There is also a London derby on Sunday at three o'clock when Tottenham host Fulham and I am expecting Spurs to bounce back well and take the Cottages down in this one.

Spurs win at 8/15 with Paddy Power.

An hour later across the capital Chelsea host West Ham and the Blues will be full of the joys of spring after salvaging a replay from the FA Cup fixture with Manchester United and likely will steamroll West Ham. The home victories at 2/5 but nobody thinks that the FA Cup will be a distraction at Chelsea by bet on West Ham at 7/1.

At the same time Wigan host Newcastle United

That’s Wigan who did so well to beat Everton in the cup versus Newcastle he seem to be very much back to winning ways of recent weeks. The odds on are Newcastle winning are at 12/5 however with that massive midweek Europa league game for the Geordies in night just be worth backing a Wigan victory available at 13/10.

Although, out of loyalty, your humble handicapper will still be having a couple of quid on Newcastle winning for this free soccer pick, specifically at 3-1 at 28/1 with Stan James.
