Two of European soccer’s big guns clash in Group H of the Champions League. Which one of these teams will be one step closer to advancing to the next round of the tournament?

In some respects, Group H of the Champions League could lay claim to being the most one sided group in this stage of the competition. It features two genuine heavyweights in this game’s protagonists, and two makeweights in Zenit St. Petersburg and Austria Vienna.

That doesn’t mean that this is anything other than an intriguing match, though. Whilst the uncharitable might expect this to be played out as a dour draw, both sides being reasonably confident of progressing to the knockout stages, nothing is that sure any more in European football. Anything other than three points here puts pressure on the losing side to avoid unexpected results against the lesser fancied teams. All too often has a side’s Champions League dream ended up in tatters simply due to over-confidence.

Madrid, if anything, have most to gain from this match. An away win here and they will be confident of topping the group and therefore being seeded for the next stage. Porto, on the other hand, will want to take something away from the home leg against their closest rivals.

The soccer betting market looks completely undecided as to how to call this one. BetVictor price a Porto win at 69/50, an Atletico one at 2/1 and the draw at 23/10 in the betting odds. There’s not a huge amount of profit to be made either way, there, but the draw -the one result neither side wants-looks the most likely outcome here. Both sides want to win this game so much that they could easily end up cancelling one another out, which will, of course, be good news for us sports betting fans.
