Top four hopefuls Man City and Tottenham will square off after the international break. Which side are we recommending with our soccer picks?

Odds Overview

At home and with a lot to prove, the Citizens are priced at soccer odds of -150 for Sunday's showdown at the Etihad. You can find Spurs at +400 to +425, with a draw listed at most online sportsbooks in and around the +300 area.

Manchester City

Perhaps this international break came at the right time for the Citizens. They had just lost 1-0 to Sunderland in a shock defeat, so maybe the two weeks off will help them re-gain focus ahead of a daunting stretch of matches.

Five days before that loss to the Black Cats, Manchester City was looking strong in a 5-2 dispatching of CSKA Moscow. And, in the match before that, the Citizens thumped Norwich City 7-0 in the Premier League.

Needless to say, a 1-0 loss to one of the bottom dwellers caught many by surprise.

City dominated for large portions of the match and mustered up 24 total shots. That said, only four were on goal, and they simply couldn't get anything past Sunderland's Vito Mannone.

Even with a full strength starting XI that featured Sergio Aguero, Alvaro Negredo and Yaya Toure among others, it just wasn't meant to be for the Citizens. They do, however, have a perfect opportunity to right the ship here at home this weekend.

Like their upcoming opponents, Spurs lost right before the international break in a fixture they should have won.

At home to Newcastle as clear-cut favorites in the soccer odds, Tottenham lacked the killer instinct. They had an insane 31 total shots (14 on goal), but Tim Krul was outstanding in net for the Magpies and Spurs were condemned to a defeat in front of their own supporters.

After Loic Remy had put Newcastle ahead, they were essentially on the back-foot for the remainder of the match. Defending valiantly, the Magpies held on, leaving Tottenham without anything to show for their efforts.

The loss means Spurs now sits in seventh place in the Premier League table, though they are even on points with both Manchester United and Everton and remain one point ahead of the Citizens as well.

Ahead of this trip up north, Tottenham has to feel rather confident. Sure they're coming up against one of the most talented squads in England, but they've done themselves proud away from home so far this term. They've recorded three wins, one draw and one loss in five matches while giving up just one single goal.

Premier League Pick

Tottenham obviously poses quite a real threat, but the Citizens are still the right way to go with our soccer picks this weekend.

All of Man City's troubles domestically have come away from home. At the Etihad, they've been out of this world, winning all five of their matches outright while scoring a ridiculous 20 goals and allowing in two.

Away from London, Spurs have been quite good, especially defensively, but they haven't really dealt with an attacking threat like City. Aguero is in top form and we think he'll get at least one goal in what we see being a win for the home side.
