Liverpool may be looking down on creation from the dizzying heights of the top of premier League, and while your Humble Handicapper can’t see them staying there indefinitely, he doesn’t see Southampton knocking them off.

Saturday at Anfield is the day and venue for a tidy little money spinner, if you follow your Humble Handicapper’s tips. If you don’t like reading you can always watch me tell you where to win money with Natalie Rydström here.

Enough with the video profile…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?

With just four games played this season, Liverpool sit (somehow) on top of the table, with a “massive” 1 point cushion protecting them from Arsenal and Spurs. Before the Scousers take to the streets I feel I must shriek “calm down, calm down” as the Reds have only clocked up five goals all season (second place Arsenal have 8 as do 4th place Man City). Hardly a goal-tatstic tally, but still, Liverpool can boast on of the tightest defences in the league at this early stage having let in just two goals, only Tottenham and West Ham have let in fewer (one goal each).

Early days – But Future Focused

Liverpool are still 10/1 (5th favourites) to lift the EPL trophy with Ladbrokes, but Saints are at 14/1 to go down. The puts the Hampshire outfit the 12th most likely team to drop out of the EP according to the oddsmakers.

I don't want to state too much of the obvious, but I certainly won’t be backing Liverpool to win the league, nor will I be backing Saints to go marching down come next May.

Liverpool has a point to prove to their home fans, after their dropped points at Swansea. This is just one more reason why I don’t expect a repeat of their last result against Saints. That game ended 3-1 to Southampton, something offered up at 80/1 this time for your soccer picks.

There is a bit of good news for the visitors in that the ‘pool’s playmaker Philippe Coutinho requires surgery on a shoulder injury and will likely be six weeks on the sidelines.

But still, this is a home banker

You might also like to know that Liverpool are at 5/1 soccer betting odds to be the highest scoring team next weekend, the bookies second favourite and 6/1 favourites to be the team that scores first. However just to temper that, I do have to remind you that Liverpool won their three first games by a 1-0 scoreline, and that scoreline is offered up at 5/1 this time round (the bookies most fancied score). And the last time this fixture was played the game ended 1-0 to Liverpool.

Liverpool may be looking at a five game unbeaten run this term, but Southampton are winless in their last two. Looking at Southampton's last five games they’ve only scores seven goals, but five of them were in the Carling Cup against Barnsley. If you look at the 4 league games these sides have played Liverpool has five goals and Saints have one.

Everything seems to point towards a Liverpool victory and a 1-0 victory at that, but I feel that Saints will get a consolation gaol (but will leave Anfield pointless).
[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":244508, "sportsbooksIds":[43], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]
Free Soccer Picks: 2-1 to Liverpool available at 8/1 with Ladbrokes.
