Spanish football is often described as the pride of the world especially by those in Spain, but for your Humble Handicapper and his loyal legion of fans it's just more entertainment and more excuses to win money.
Getafe, after 26 games all looking the more healthy in the Spanish top flight this season as they are sitting on 38 points and, applying your Humble Handicapper’s a rule of six could climb as high as fourth should everything go in their favour. Levante by comparison are not that far behind on 35 points but can realistically only hope for as high up the table as seventh. That doesn't mean that this game won't be hard fought as Levante could leapfrog Getafe in the table if they get a good result.
Enough with the “what ifs”…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?
The home side is winless in their last three games and only have one victory from their last five whereas the visitors are on a three game winning streak and have only dropped one match in that run which was a 6-1 defeat away to that little team called Barcelona, which almost makes it an outlying stat.
Play Away Day
It will probably be no surprise to you that I'm going to back the away side who are offered up by the bookies to take all three points 11/5 betting odds. A home win is at 5/4 and a draw is at 9/4. Looking at the last five head-to-head meetings between these two sides it's pretty much honours even as the visitors have come out on top in the last two occasions before that there was a single draw and before that it was the home side who came out on top.
Crunching the numbers a bit further only leads to confusion as Levante have scored six goals in those five games, never failing to find the back of the net but Getafe have scored seven times in those five games but have failed to find the back of the net on two occasions once at home and once away. The reason that Getafe has such an impressive tally of goals against Levante is because back in September 2010 they manage to put four past their opponents and conceded just a single goal. The fact that a repeat of that 4-1 score is offered up at 90/1 shows you how likely it is.
I think that because Getafe have scored 12 goals in their last five games and have won four of their last five games by a two-goal margin means they will do something similar to Levante on Sunday. Levante have four goals in their last five games and have failed to find the back of the net on two occasions.
I'm betting on Getafe in this game, but I do think Levante will get a consolation goal for this free soccer pick.
