Will Landon Donovan, Robbie Keane and the Galaxy be able to build off a win over the weekend? They'll be at home once again, this time facing the Revolution. We know who the odds favor, but what's the best play here?
Of the four MLS matches taking place on Wednesday, the soccer betting odds are most lopsided in this encounter featuring the Galaxy and Revolution.
LA is priced out as a clear -150 favorite in the soccer betting lines, with New England available for backing at a price approaching +450. A draw is listed in the +275 to +300 range.
Beating Real Salt Lake is never easy, so the Galaxy have to be feeling really good right now after their 1-0 home win this past weekend.
Gyasi Zardes' first-half goal ended up being the difference, with LA's back-line holding strong throughout. RSL had 13 total shots, six of which were on goal, but goalkeeper Jaime Penedo and his back four did what they had to do.
The win put the Galaxy on 24 points, good for sixth place in the Western Conference. It should be noted they've only played 15 matches, at least three less than many of the other teams in the league, meaning they're still very much in the thick of the playoff race.
Keeping momentum and spirits high could be crucial to LA's chances of making up ground, so a win on Wednesday would be exactly what the doctor ordered. The Galaxy have been terrific at home so far, picking up four wins, two draws and only one loss through seven matches.
We all know who to watch for in Bruce Arena's team. Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane are the big names, with the pair combining for 10 league goals thus far. Keane leads the pack with seven goals.
New England Revolution
Like the Galaxy, the Revolution are in the midst of their own playoff pursuit. They're in fourth place in the Eastern Conference right now (even with the Red Bulls), having earned 23 points through 17 league matches.
Over the weekend though, New England lost 1-0 at home to the Chicago Fire, despite generating numerous goalscoring chances.
The Revolution threatened continuously, racking up 24 total shots, seven of which were on goal. They also had a majority of the possession, yet they simply couldn't find their way past Chicago goalkeeper Sean Johnson. Quincy Amarikwa's goal in the third minute was all the Fire needed in the end.
Now New England makes the long trek across the country to take on the Galaxy at the StubHub Center. On the season, the Revolution have three wins, one draw and five losses away from home.
The return of Lee Nguyen, who leads the team with five goals, is a welcome boost for New England. The midfielder was suspended for the match against Chicago but figures to return to the starting XI on Wednesday. Patrick Mullins and Diego Fagundez are also ones to watch for the Revolution.
The Revolution have been doing well again this season, but we believe the best soccer betting value lies with the home team pick.
For one, New England has struggled to find their best form away from home. On the other side you've got a Galaxy outfit that's only lost one time on their own pitch and is full of confidence after a great win over RSL.
Armed with the advantage of being at home and a defense that's held strong, especially at StubHub Center, we ultimately think LA will come through as our betting pick for today. Look for the Galaxy to continue their good form at home with another victory.
Pick: LA Galaxy 2 New England Revolution 0
