Here are our soccer picks as Hull City and Sunderland collide on match day 28, a pivotal game for both teams' bid for Premier League survival.

Hull City Look To Stay Ahead of Relegation Battle
The Tigers are currently four points clear of the drop zone but they are by no means safe for another season. The barrel of Championship football points in their direction after gaining ammunition at the weekend with a loss to Stoke City at Britannia Stadium.

Substituting in Peter Crouch late in the game (the last 20 minutes) made an immediate impact to the Potters' win as less than a minute into his appearance he headed home Charlie Adam's cross that ultimately gave Stoke City the 1-0 win. Hull's manager, Steve Bruce, saw it from a different perspective however. Already grumbling about dubious officiating throughout the game, he insisted the winning goal was offside and should have never been allowed to count.

Ahead of their clash with Stoke, the Tigers appeared to be set to roar into Britannia Stadium behind a three-game undefeated streak. As it were, they roared in with all the intensity of a mewling kitten. They came out flat and never looked to get off the mark. By the numbers, the Tigers mustered up just a single shot and not until the 91st minute did they win their first corner. Needless to say, that's simply not going to cut it in the race for Premier League survival.

If there's small consolation to be had, it's that rivals in the relegation battle failed to capitalise in EPL week 27 betting as well: Sunderland, QPR, Burnley and Aston Villa all lost while bottom-placed Leicester City settled on the draw. Some consolation can also be found on the Premier League soccer odds board as well for the favourites to be relegated are Burnley (-275), Leicester City (-250) and QPR (-175), followed by Aston Villa at +100.

Sunderland Look To Bounce Back at KC Stadium
One of several victims in EPL week 27 betting, Sunderland lost to Manchester United 2-0 at the Old Trafford. Gus Poyet was amongst the group of grumbling managers that have concerns about suspect officiating recently, but that's not going to do much towards his side's plight in the table. Besides, winning at the Old Trafford was always going to be a challenge, if not impossible. It's not as if the Black Cats were on the crest of a wave of impressive form. They were after a drab scoreless draw to West Brom and spectacular 2-0 loss to QPR at home, which effectively handed the visitors their first and only road win of the season mind.

Sunderland are in 16th place with a 4-13-10 record and 25 points. They are just a point behind Hull City (6-8-13 and 26 points) and three points clear of the drop zone. Points couldn't come at a higher premium than they do now with the prospect of Championship football threatening by season end.

As Hull City do, so do Sunderland benefit from the weekend's missed opportunities by relegation rivals. By the same token, it duly increases the significance of match day 28 betting and the outcome of their clash at KC Stadium.

Soccer Betting Verdict
By the sportsbooks, Hull City have the edge on +115 Soccer Odds. Sunderland are priced at whopping +290 soccer odds and the draw is trading at +230 soccer odds. Very little separates these two outfits to initially warrant such disparity in the soccer betting markets. In fact, we'd go so far as to suggest this clash should be evenly balanced with no clear-cut betting favourite for your Soccer Picks.

That said home advantage does tip the scale fractionally towards Hull City slightly where they are 4-3-6 on the season, which includes three wins in their last five games. (The hiccups were against Newcastle United and Leicester City.) Still, they can't take anything for granted, including the favourable outlook in soccer betting markets.

The Black Cats may be without a win in their last five Premier League games having gone 0-2-3. But, if there were one take away it's that the losses came to top-half sides: Man U, Man City and Tottenham while the draws were to Swansea City and relegation rivals Aston Villa. Surely, losses to their Premier League betters are easily understood.

Earlier in the season, the Black Cats punched above their weight class on the road on a couple of occasions: wins over Newcastle United and Crystal Palace spring to mind. As well, they held their own against Liverpool and Leicester (both 0-0 draws) and West Brom (2-2 draw), to name a few. Under the circumstances, Premier League survival hanging in the balance so, Gus Poyet is sure to motivate his lads to rise to the occasion at KC Stadium against a very ordinary Hull City. In short, don't be surprised then if Sunderland capitalise at the expense of their inviting hosts on Tuesday's round of soccer betting, be it with a straight up win at +290 or the draw at +230.

Soccer Free Picks: For our money, we quite fancy the outright win by Sunderland at +294 at 5Dimes, but the safer soccer pick without a doubt is the double chance bet: Sunderland to win or draw at -138.
