You might think that Hull city versus Aston Villa is never going to be that much of an exciting match but if you follow our soccer picks, even a dull game can be a profitable one.

Both of these sides will be feeling good as Hull are looking at a three game winning run and haven't been beaten in their last four while Aston Villa confounded all expectations and beat Manchester City 32 at the weekend.

All of that counts for nothing more than three points when these sides face-off but Aston Villa must surely think that they deserve to stay in the premiership after Saturday's display and Hull can count themselves as proper league players with their points tally thus far. Aston Villa are currently 18/1 to be relegated and also the Tigers are 9/4. With Crystal Palace Fulham and Sunderland faring so badly of late both these sides must feel like they already reasonably safe from the drop.

Enough about relegation…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?

Aston Villa has won all four of their last four meetings against Hull City Tigers. What's more Aston Villa have outscored Hull 70 in those four meetings and in case anybody can't do the basic maths that means that Hull haven't found the back of the net against Aston Villa in games dating back to the end of 2008.

You might want to bet therefore on 1-0 to Villa at soccer odds of 10/1, a score we’ve seen twice in the last four encounters, 3-0 which was the result back in December 2009 which is at 50/1 and indeed 2-0 which was the result of the last time this picture is played back in April 2010 which is at 17/1.

But those odds speak volumes

On a more basic note, Hull winning is at 13/10 Villa winning is at 11/5 and the game ending drawn is at 12/5.

Both of these teams have three wins from their last five, but as I said Aston Villa's latest victory was considerably more impressive than Hull’s 1-0 win over West Ham on Saturday. Way up the fact that Hull have only been beaten once in their last five games, away to Manchester City and you might think that the Tigers are the ones that will come out on top.

However taking Manchester City as a barometer and the fact that Hull were beaten 2-0 by City and Villa beat city 3-2 Aston Villa should beat Hull 5-2. That's pretty unlikely as offered up by most online sportsbooks at 400/1.

Cool your boots my man

Despite Hull’s winning and undefeated runs they've only managed to score more than one goal once in their last five games and that was against the stuttering Geordies of Newcastle United.

Villa has failed to score in two of their last five although they do have the momentum from last weekend's result. It's worth backing under 2.5 goals with your soccer picks at 7/10 although over is at 11/10.

Long story short this is going to be a tough one to call, but that's why we are here to help you lock in your sports picks.

Prediction: 1-1 draw available at 6/1 with William Hill.
