After the way the good ol' US of A booked their place in this semi-final you can see why there’s money to be made backing Uncle Sam with your soccer picks.
Team USA took apart El Salvador with a stormingly good 5-1 game. It really was half a game as the US had 19 (count 'em, 19!) shots on goal while El Salvador had just five. The wide shots were a lot closer, as it came out 8-7 to El Sal, but in terms of possession it was like Linda Blair all over again: 70% of the time the ball was at American feet.
Honduras had a considerably quieter time of it against Costa Rica. The two teams only managed 6 shots on goal between them, 2 to Honduras and 4 for the Ticos. The wild shots were a bit wilder as well, with 9 off-target for Honduras and 10 for Costa Rica.
Really, that should tell you all you need to know about who’s going to win this game.
Honduras are last chance Charlies for winning the tournament at +1100, while USA are faves at -133. In the middle -and for the sake of telling you- we have Mexico at +250 and Panama at +700.
Basic soccer odds have USA as -250 clear favourites to win this match outright, the draw is set at +333 and a Honduras win is listed at +600. If that wasn’t clear enough for you, USA is at -800 to qualify for the Final, while Honduras is at +450. If you need further convincing, USA winning both halves is priced at +200 while a Draw / USA outcome is at +320. The Draw / Draw is at +550 and Honduras winning both halves is at +2200! Honduras taking the match at the 90' after it being drawn at the 45' (and the only fun bet worth having here) is a cool +2000.
The bookies have a 2-0 USA win at +550, followed by 1-0 at +600 and the 2-1 for the States is capped at +750. A 3-0 outcome is set at +850, and then (finally, something that isn’t a USA victory!) the 1-1 draw is +800. You can then see a 3-1 USA win at +1100, before any other score.
An out-and-out Honduras win is at +1600 for 1-0 in the betting odds, same as 4-0 win odds for the USA.
Can I make it any simpler? U-S-A will be A-OK.
