Here is a soccer pick on the Champions League match between Glatasaray and Copenhagen. Let's review the betting lines and get our free picks!

Second place on the table

Galatasaray find themselves in the basement of Group B after two rounds, on a point with a loss and a draw. FC Copenhagen are not far off, in third place on two points (level with second-place Juventus though) following back-to-back draws. The upshot: second place is potentially up for grabs for the winner of this match; a fact that rests exclusively on a Real Madrid win over Juventus of course.

It’s interesting to note that while the Danes have a leg up on the Turks in the table, it’s the latter that is priced better in group-betting markets to actually win the group at +3300 odds compared to the outrageous +25000 price tag on the former at Bet365.

The conclusion of the group stage is a bit of a ways off however, many developments and surprises could yet be on the horizon, which in turn could see a re-evaluation of the group futures. For now we need only contend ourselves with this fixture and any implications it might have towards the respective parties and their campaigns. We are after all only in the third round of group fixtures and there is everything to play for yet by both teams.

Things looked bleak in Istanbul after the 6-1 thumping they received courtesy of Real Madrid and the subsequent firing of long time coach Fatih Terim. But then, in one fell swoop, things seemingly took an unexpected about turn on the heels of the dapper Roberto Mancini’s arrival, moseying in on the verve and swagger of his expensive designer kit just in time for the second group clash against Juventus and reunion with his beloved former Man City diva Carlos Tevez.

Two days before such an important clash wasn’t deemed enough time for Mancini to execute any meaningful changes to his newly acquired side or even inspire confidence against a big club such as Juventus – one need only look at the odds circulating on the Juventus vs. Galatasaray clash [] to get a sense of how dire a plight they were in.  But in spite of this widely accepted notion Galatasaray pulled a rabbit out of the hat and forced a draw on Juventus. That’s all of us told.

So what can we expect of Galatasaray in this game? Put another way, FC Copenhagen, despite the hefty betting odds, shouldn’t be underestimated. Keep in mind they too accomplished a draw against Juventus and will be fancying their chances against Galatasaray, a side that, to all intents and purposes, still doesn’t strike a convincing pose across all competitions, including domestic action where they are most recently after a 2-1 loss to Akhisar Belediye on the away.

Galatasaray vs. FC Copenhagen Predictions and Picks:

Undoubtedly both teams will be approaching this game as a must-win. Reviving their European campaigns and injecting hope for an enduring run rests on winning this game and it helps that from both their perspectives, it’s a winnable game.

Galatasaray with home advantage has the edge in the soccer betting markets, listed at favourable -275 odds to win outright. But are they really worth your soccer picks at such a hefty price given that they are struggling something awful to win matches?

In six laps around Super Lig, Galatasaray have managed one lone victory; they are 1-4-1 altogether, on seven points and sitting at a lowly 13th perch in the table. Do we need a reminder that they have yet to win a game in European action as well (0-1-1 so far)? Is Mancini who was fired from his last gig for his lack of success in Champions League the X-factor for Turkey’s campaign?  The very same competition he was deemed unfit by Man City? Well he does have enviable soccer baubles to work with in Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder to name a few.

FC Copenhagen punched above their weight class to settle on a scoreless draw with Juventus but then they were easily dismantled by Real Madrid, a result that leads them to be set at +750 odds to win outright at Bet365 – a significant disadvantage for their date with Galatasaray in Istanbul. Even the draw is tipped at a large +350.

Should they be set at such a significant disadvantage? Probably not as they are a well organised side and it was no mean feat to get into such a prestigious competition. They are in it because they deserve to be in it and encouragingly they didn’t play badly in either of their games.

Soccer Betting Verdict

This game is a tossup and as such there is value on both sides of the coin. While we are plumping down to a Galatasaray win in this game – because they have home advantage, enviable stars contained within their locker room and a new coach that isn’t short of experience – we can’t ignore their lack of convincing form which makes them a bit of a risky pick at -275. So if you aren’t convinced by Galatasaray, give it a skip.

Hanging your hat on a Copenhagen win is also a risky move but a rewarding one if the pick does come through at +750. Cooler heads looking for an upset of sorts might find the draw bet at +350 more in tune to their tastes.

Soccer Picks: Galatasaray to win outright at -275
