England host Poland next Tuesday in the World Cup qualifier and your Humble Handicapper may be looking forward to the match but he’s also looking forward to winning money with his sports picks even more.
England “just” require victory over Poland at Wembley on Tuesday to book their place in next summer's World Cup in Brazil after their 4-1 win against Montenegro. These Three Lions were 1/8 to qualify and the best soccer betting odds you get and not qualify 7/1, before Friday’s match. Now they’re 9/1 not to qualify.
Enough with the qualifying…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?
This is as good a time as any to let you know that most sportsbooks have soccer odds of England winning the World Cup in 2014 at 25/1. That means England are slightly ahead of Columbia who are 29/1 that are behind Holland Italy and Belgium who are also move between 40/1 and 20/1 not to mention the big four of Spain Germany Argentina and Brazil.
You might have to wait an awfully long time for England to win you money by winning the World Cup so it is a good job they can get cash on them beating Poland.
Money, Money, Money
The last these teams met the game ended 1-1, any draw is at 5/1 and a 1-1 draw is at 11/1 (worth a bet just as the numbers look pretty).
Looking at their last few games England are undefeated in their last six but only have three victories and three draws. England will take heart from the fact that they kept two clean sheets in their last three games and scored seven goals in their second and third previous games which are pretty presentable. Not to mention their 4-1 display on Friday.
England have a form with those aforementioned clean sheets and decent scorelines but Poland are no nobodies themselves. Before Friday’s trip to the Ukraine they were also undefeated in their last five games but they had three victories and two draws. Now their most recent game was a defeat, the sportsbooks have reacted accordingly.
England are ¼ to win their game against Poland and Poland are 11/1 to come out on top. The shortest correct score betting odds are on England winning 2-0, but it’s going to be a bit more goal heavy than that.
The Good ol’ Days.
Poland's last win was a massive 5-1 stonking of San Marino but they haven't kept a clean sheet since 4 June when they were 2-0 victors over Liechtenstein.
Poland may be OK but England is better.
Before Friday's game England were offered up at 2/5 Soccer Odds to win their group while Poland were 250/1. Now the sportsbooks have ¼ on England and 10/3 on the Ukraine only.
Free Soccer Picks: England will be victorious 3-1, at 11/1
