Tony Pulis has worked his wonders since taking over Palace. Can he lead his crew to another good result against Southampton for our soccer picks?

Odds Overview

The Saints are favored at +120 on the soccer odds board to win outright away from home, leaving Crystal Palace at +270 or so to get the three points. A draw is certainly within reason too and can be found in the +220 to +230 range at the best sportsbooks.

Crystal Palace

The Eagles weren't given much of a chance at surviving relegation after getting promoted from the Championship, and it definitely looked like they were destined to go down with the poor start they had.

However, the arrival of Tony Pulis has made an instant impact and he's got the Eagles three points clear of the relegation zone at the moment. The fact Pulis has never had his side be relegated in his career has to be music to the ears of Palace fans.

Last weekend the Eagles earned another important point in a 1-1 draw at Swansea City, with Glenn Murray's penalty in the 82nd minute settling the tie. It was a controversial decision but Murray dispatched the penalty with confidence.

Palace will now return home to play at Selhurst Park, where they've recorded six wins, two draws and six defeats (13 goals for, 17 against).

Before losing to Manchester United, the Eagles had gone four matches unbeaten at home, including three straight wins over Stoke City, Hull City and West Brom. They'll try to start another streak here against the Saints.

Three straight defeats have the Saints in the midst of one of their worst spells of the season. They lost to Sunderland in the F.A. Cup and have also dropped consecutive matches to Liverpool and West Ham in the league.

To be fair, the 3-0 loss to the Reds didn't reflect the true nature of the game. Southampton had more than their fair share of chances and dominated possession once again. They just couldn't convert and also had trouble stopping Liverpool on the break.

The loss hasn't changed much in the grand scheme of the Premier League table, with the Saints still occupying the ninth spot. They're now four points back of Newcastle though and are nine points outside of the top six.

Ahead of Saturday's meeting in Crystal Palace, Southampton has had mixed results away from home. They may have beaten Liverpool at Anfield and tied Manchester United at Old Trafford, but they've also lost to the likes of Norwich and West Ham.

Nonetheless, these Saints are a mighty dangerous bunch, especially with the way Adam Lallana's been playing. He's been a huge threat going forward and we wouldn't be surprised in the least to see him make the difference on Saturday. Luke Shaw, a young defender with tons of potential, has also been instrumental in Southampton's success this season.

Premier League Pick

After having his fair share of success at Stoke, Pulis has brought the same determined approach to Palace and the results speak for themselves.

But can the Eagles stave off what's sure to be a hungry Southampton outfit this weekend? After all, the Saints love to dominate possession and are sure to generate quite a few chances, like they did at home versus Liverpool.

Still, Pulis will have his team prepared and ready to put in a disciplined shift, so we reckon Palace will get at least another point here at home. They've had plenty of success at Selhurst Park and we look for that to continue for our soccer picks.
