Chelsea vs. Manchester City
If you're really liking one of these teams, you're going to find value either way. Betting odds wise, the Blues are listed at +225 to get the win and advance to the final, while the Citizens are trading at an even +100.
Currently the OVER 2.5 goals is getting more love from the public, listed at -120, while the UNDER is at -110.
The Blues are in the midst of a crucial period right now, as they're still in two competitions along with their quest for a top four spot.
During the week Chelsea lost 3-2 to Rubin Kuzan, yet still won 5-4 on aggregate to advance to the semi-finals of the Europa League. Fernando Torres and Victor Moses had the goals for the Blues.
Chelsea's path to the FA Cup semi-finals has been relatively easy, that is until the quarter-final round. First they took care of Southampton, Brentford (on two tries), and then Middlesbrough to set up a date with Manchester United in the quarters.
There the Blues staged a remarkable comeback to get a 2-2 tie at Old Trafford, earning them the right for a replay at home, which they won 1-0 behind a Demba Ba wonder goal.
With Torres getting the start on Wednesday, it appears likely Ba will again get the nod over the Spaniard as the starting striker after scoring the winner against United. There's a chance both John Terry and Frank Lampard could find themselves among the substitutes as well.
Since losing to Everton in the middle of March, the Citizens have reeled off consecutive league wins to close the gap between themselves and Manchester United to 12 points.
Obviously that's still a huge deficit to overcome, but we've seen crazier things happen before, especially in the Premier League.
Nonetheless, City will take a break from their domestic schedule as they shift their focus to their most realistic chance of scoring some silverware this season. A victory over Chelsea here in the semi-finals would make them big-time favorites in the final.
The Citizens have had little resistance reaching this point in the competition, as they've overcome Watford (3-0), Stoke City (1-0), Leeds (4-0), and Barnsley (5-0).
Carlos Tevez has been the top goalscorer in the FA Cup thus far for City, scoring five goals with two assists in four appearances. David Silva meanwhile has scored once but has had a hand in three other Citizens goals. It will also be interesting to see if Costel Pantilimon, who's started every cup game so far, or Joe Hart will get the start in goal this weekend.
FA Cup Pick
Whoever wins this showdown will be rewarded with the chance to play either Wigan or Millwall in the finals of the competition.
This semi-final match, you'd have to think, is essentially going to decide who ends up winning the trophy, barring a complete letdown from one of these top-tier sides.
When push comes to shove though, we have to back City to overcome the Blues and book their place in the FA Cup finals. This is the only chance the Citizens have of getting a trophy this season, unlike Chelsea, and we think they'll have the extra impetus to get the win for our soccer picks here.
In three meetings between these elite squads this season, City has won twice, with the other result ending in a 0-0 deadlock. We like Roberto Mancini's gang to emerge victorious again at Wembley.
