The Champions League Group A.
However when the best of the best face off you have to be a clever better to make money out of it thankfully that's what your Humble Handicapper is here for.
The picks have been made and we’re now in the group stages I'm going to cast my gambler’s eye (first) over Group A. Group A boasts Manchester United, Real Sociedad, Bayer Leverkusen and Shakh’r Donetsk.
Enough with who is in it….WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?
With a competition like this one really need look no further than the bookies to see who’s in with a shout of winning it. needs to say the book is fancy to win. And they seem to like the Germans, some bookies are offering odds as low as 7/2 on Bayern Munich to lift the trophy come next May. No real surprise that just after the German giants is a duo of Spanish sides, that’s Barcelona and Real Madrid who are at 4/1 and 5/1 respectively. Then next we see an English side, with Chelsea offered up at 9/1 at most sportsbooks.
What Has This to do with Group A
You might wonder what all this has to do with Group A, but just behind Chelsea running as high as 14/1 you find Manchester United at the first side to picked by the bookies to lift the Trophy.
Also Rans, Running Late
Real Sociedad and Shakhtar Donetsk are very much just making up the soccer betting odds in this competition as most bookmakers have them around the 150/1 mark to be lifting the trophy. Still of course have to be in it to win it but some sides have considerably better chance than others.
Bayer Leverkusen are not much better off as they go high as 125/1 for our soccer picks, but offered up elsewhere around 80/1 mark.
Big Odds But Big Odds for a Reason
If you can't wait for the final, you can always bet on who will come out top of the pile in Group A. surprise that it's Man Utd at 5/6 posted by the bookies to be the group winners, and then there is a large drop-off as we have Shakhtar Donetsk at 5/1, Bayer Leverkusen at 6/1 and bringing up the rear Real Sociedad at 7/1.
It looks like a foregone conclusion, about who’s going to come out on top (and bottom) as Manchester United are 1/6 to qualify and Real are 3/10 to finish bottom of their group.
Manchester United even have the advantage of having their first game at home and I expect them to run away with this group.
Prediction: Manchester United come out on top, but I doubt the tournament winner will come from Group A.
