Everybody loves the Champions League especially your Humble Handicapper and it's not just because he was at Istanbul when Liverpool lifted the trophy.

Champions league group B.

He also loves it because it gives him another chance to win money for his ever-loving wife, and thanks to the group stages he doesn't have to wait until the final.

Group B is very much a group of two halves as the bookies see two decent sides they think will qualify and two sides that the bookies think will struggle. There's also one side in that four who is very much a lamb to the slaughter or indeed a Christian to lions.

Enough with the mixed metaphors…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?

First things first let's talk about the side who isn't going to do very well in Group B. Copenhagen, wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen a city I have a lot of affection for, but affection has no place down the betting shop and much as I love it and its bike friendly roads not to mention the open sandwiches, I won't be putting on any money on Copenhagen to win (or even qualify from) Group B. Even though they are offered up at 100/1 for our soccer picks, it's pretty much as inconceivable as you can imagine. The bookmakers also have Copenhagen at 2/17 to finish dead last in a group and don't seem to be putting much effort into picking which other side might finish bottom.

The Champions League 2014 Futures Odds~

Sorry Hans Christian Andersen

So, if Copenhagen are the bum notes in Group B who are the high notes.

Well there is a little side called Real Madrid who apparently just bought some fella called Gareth Bale, and they are very much at 4/7 to come out on top of this group and are pretty much a foregone conclusion of 1/14 qualify.

Next up is Juventus, who are 5/2 on the soccer odds boards with the bookmakers to win the group and a pretty healthy 2/7 to qualify.

Then there is the side who falls somewhere between the top two and the bottom one. That is Galatasaray. They are 16/1 to win the group, a highly unlikely thing as I don’t see them taking very many points off Madrid or Juventus. However they are as 9/2 which might tempt some people but I still think is a foolish bet.

I can say that Group B is a group that will have very few surprises, and just might post the winner of the 2014 champions league. Keep that in mind when making those soccer picks.

Soccer Picks: Real Madrid top Copenhagen, bottom Juventus will finish second and Galatasaray gets third but no cigar.
