Arsenal descend on Cardiff City following a successful Champions League outing, looking to extend their momentum at the expense of the hosts. Odds are in full swing on this clash so without further ado, here is a preview complete with soccer picks.

Arsenal indisputable favourites

Arsenal enter their clash with Cardiff City as the indisputable -163 road favourites to win outright in Wales and hardly any punter would argue with this online sportsbook market cast given how supremely the Gunners have played so far this season.

Arsenal have opened a four-point lead in the Premier League table with a 9-1-2 mark through 12 rounds. They are four-points ahead of Liverpool and Chelsea and six points ahead of Manchester City in fourth place. That cushion means that no matter what happens at the end of week 13, Arsenal will remain at the top of the table when the dust settles. A fact that helps towards alleviating some of the pressure on Arsene Wenger and his boys but that certainly won’t lessen their motivation to try to take all three points.

Arsenal will be looking to build on the momentum in order to stay ahead of the chasing pack at home. They are an encouraging 4-1-1 on the road, an underlying run of form that is extremely strong against weaker opposition. Their lone loss – a 1-0 defeat to Man U at the Old Trafford – was a near costly misstep that they quickly averted with a 2-0 victory over Southampton at the weekend. Their last five games in Premier League read WLWWW and include three clean sheets all the while scoring ten goals scored and only conceding three.

Their overarching form doesn’t stop at domestic commitments but extends to various competitions as well, namely Champions League where they currently hold top spot in Group F – the so-called ‘Group of Death’—a position they just consolidated with a 2-0 victory over Marseille in midweek Champions League action.

That they are after a road win ahead of their clash with Cardiff City augurs well for them and, in turn lends their firm -163 soccer odds weight. It goes without saying it doesn’t bode well for the hosts, who although are after an admirable 2-2 draw with Manchester United at the weekend will be sorely tested by Arsene’s shiny soccer baubles.

In fact, despite coming off one of their most memorable accounts this season (the win over Man City at the start of the season registers just a tad higher on the rector scale of upsets), sportsbooks barely have anything faith in Cardiff City as far as this matchup is concerned, listing them at whopping +450 soccer odds to win outright at Bet365.

That has something to do with the quality of Arsenal. Largely though that stance might have everything to do with the fact that odds makers aren’t entirely sold on David Moyes and his Red Devils just yet. An opinion that might explain why they are taking away from the Bluebirds value they might have otherwise gained on the back of a credible result against a Premier League stalwart under other circumstances.

Truth be told, Cardiff City will be hard pressed to replicate either result they enjoyed against the ‘Manchesters’ this season. Both Man U and Man City have had their moments of inconsistency. Arsenal by contrast have been exemplars of consistency, focus and winning mentality.  Toppling them in Cardiff is going to be a tall order, one that few would back with any certainty.

Soccer Betting Verdict: The Bluebirds have managed to clinch some marquee notches onto their belts but expecting them to add Arsenal to that dangling lot is a bit of a long shot. That they’ve done so however suggests they’ll go into this match with measured optimism and try to give Arsenal a run for their money. So our verdict is an Arsenal win but Cardiff to keep it close, two aspects that can be well complimented by Arsenal at -163 to win outright and Under 2.5 at +100, we will be add them to our soccer picks.
