The Gunners are in a fight for their lives in their group, so a win over Marseille would go a long way this week. How have we decided to look at this matchup from a soccer betting stance?

Odds Overview

One of largest favorites of Tuesday's European action is Arsenal, with Arsene Wenger's side listed at soccer odds of -425 or so to win.

We can lock down the French outfit at a price of +1250, though the price rises to as high as +1600 at certain sportsbooks. The O/U of three goals is pretty much trading evenly, with the OVER at -105 and the UNDER at -115.

The Gunners have played four times in the group so far, winning three times and losing once. At home they've beaten Fenerbache (2-0 in the playoff round) and Napoli (2-0), though they did lose 2-1 to Borussia Dortmund in late October.

But, in such a tough group, there's not much room for error for Arsenal. They need to get all three points against Marseille.

A 2-0 win over Southampton in the Premier League will have helped confidence heading into another European evening at the Emirates.

Olivier Giroud scored both goals in the victory over the Saints. The first was an absolute gift, with Southampton's Artur Boruc making an unbelievable error in the back, leading to a tap-in for the Frenchman. Giroud converted from the penalty spot late on to seal the deal.

So here the Gunners stand. First place in the Premier League and atop an extremely difficult Champions League group. Wenger has his group flying high, but are they up for the challenge against Marseille?

Les Phoceens couldn't have asked for a more challenging group and they've found that out the hard way. They've lost all four of their matches, scoring four total goals while giving up 10 overall.

However, aside from a 3-0 away loss to Dortmund, Marseille has actually hung tough in the competition.

They lost 2-1 to Arsenal back in September, fell 2-1 to Napoli at home and then were victims of a 3-2 defeat at Napoli. Not the worst set of results there against two huge clubs.

Moreover, Les Phoceens went into the international break on a high and returned with a bang as well. They overcame AC Ajaccio 3-1 in Ligue 1 action over the weekend, with Dimitri Payet, Andre-Pierre Gignac and Florian Thauvin all scoring in the victory.

Those three have been the team's leading scorers in the league this season, with Gignac leading the way with six goals. That being said, Mathieu Valbuena may not show up on the statistics sheet too often, but he can have a major influence on matches. Arsenal will have to deal with him as well.

Champions League Pick

These soccer odds are incredibly steep, but there's a reason they are what they are. The Gunners are in terrific form and have been all season long, and one would assume they'll put on another show in front of their home support on Tuesday. However, before locking in our soccer picks we need to figure out just how dominating they will be.

Giroud has seemingly been scoring at will, putting himself in the right place at the right time, while we all know what kind of influence Mesut Ozil can have. Throw in the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla and the return of Theo Walcott and Arsenal has an embarrassment of riches at their disposal.

We therefore have to take Arsenal here at home. They should dominate possession and should eventually wear down the French side en-route to a win.
