Let’s try to assemble a 3-team accumulator (parlay) with all EPL Sides and another with Totals and see if we can make something happen at the betting window.

The new English Premier League is underway and Matchday 1 was filled with many surprises including Manchester United winning on a lone Own Goal against Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea drawing with Swansea City at Stamford Bridge and seeing GK be suspended with a Red Card and Arsenal upset by West Ham United at Home at the Emirates Stadium in North London. And Matchday 2 doesn’t look any easier for sports gamblers or predictable for EPL clubs, but neither winning on parlays or winning the league has ever been easy.

Friday, August 14
Aston Villa vs. Manchester United (NBCSN, NBC Sports Live Extra, NBC UNIVERSO (US); Sky Sports 1/HD UK, Sky Go UK, SKY GO Extra, NOW TV 2:45 p.m. ET/11:45 a.m. PT): Manchester United (1-0-0, 1 GF-0) heads to Birmingham and Villa Park on Friday to face Aston Villa (1-0-0, 1 GF-0 GA) in this Matchday 2 English Premier League fixture. Both teams won their openers by 1-0 scorelines, the Red Devils using an Own Goal to top Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford and the Lions ruining AFC Bournemouth’s top flight debut with a Jordan Ayew (Lorient) goal and a victory over the Cherries at Vitality Stadium. United has completely dominated this series in EPL play and hasn’t lost to Villa since the 2009/10 season. The Red Devils are also 8-1-0 L9 vs the Villains, outscoring them 25 GF-6 GA in the process but whether or not 2nd-year Manager Louis Van Gaal starts David De Gea—linked to Real Madrid—at GK will likely remain a mystery until near kickoff. In this fixture last season, the two sides played to a 1-1 Draw in Week 17, but here with Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and new signees Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich) and 21-year-old Memphis Depay (PSV Eindhoven), expect the Red Devils Manchester United (+550 to win EPL, bet365) to find a way to beat Aston Villa (5000/1 to win EPL, Sky Bet) and GK Brad Guzan here in this one where goals could end up being somewhat scarce.

EPL Picks: Manchester United -159, Under 2½ -115 (Pinnacle)

Saturday, August 15
Sunderland vs. Norwich City (NBC Sports Live Extra (US); 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT): Promoted side Norwich City (8000/1, Ladbrokes) lost at Home at Carrow Road in Matchday 1 to Crystal Palace, 3-1, while Sunderland (8000/1, 888Sport) was thrashed by Leicester City, 4-2 on the Road. Here on Matchday 2 at the Stadium of Light, both teams will be looking for the Win and their first 3 points. And although this actually seems like a good Draw bet, fading the Black Cats seems like a better idea after the way they played against the Foxes. Lifetime in this series, the Canaries are 9-4-5 in EPL play (25 GF-24 GA), and a respectable 2-3-4 (7 GF-15 GA) here at Sunderland. In this fixture last season, Norwich City and the Black Cats drew 1-1 after a 0-0 scoreline at Norwich City the season before. The Canaries are an unbeaten 2-2-0 (5 GF-2 GA) in the L4 EPL meetings against Sunderland, and with these two clubs playing in games that combined for 10 goals in Matchday 1, there should be goals here and taking a shot against the Black Cats is a gamble, but that’s what this exercise is all about, right?

EPL Pick:  Norwich City +211 (Pinnacle)

Saturday, August 15
Swansea City vs. Newcastle United (NBC Sports Live Extra (US): 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT): Swansea City (0-1-0, 2 GF-2 GA) was impressive on Matchday 1, earning a 2-2 Draw against 10-man Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, while Newcastle United also played to a 2-2 scoreline and earned a point at Home at St. James’ Park in Newcastle upon Tyne against Southampton. The Toon (5000/1 to win EPL, Sky Bet) have a storied reputation in the EPL, but it’s the Swans and Manager Garry Monk who are the team now on the upswing (8th-place finish, record number of points  in EPL last season). This Summer, Swansea City (3000/1, Ladbrokes) signed Eder (Braga) and André Ayew (Marseille) and with Ki Sung-yueng, Nathan Dyer, Gylfi Sigurðsson and Bafetimbi Gomis, this Welsh side has an impressive and physically strong attack force, and, with Lukasz Fabianski in Goal, this team will be seeking a UEFA Europa League berth this campaign. With the L4 games in this series all going Over the Total— NUFC 2-3 SWANS, SWANS 2-2 NUFC, NUFC 1-2 SWANS, SWANS 3-0 NUFC—and all four having both teams score before Halftime (Both Teams To Score W4) in four consecutive 1-1 scorelines, backing the Over here is the call and with players like the Swans’ Ayew and the Magpies’ Papiss Cissé on the pitch and the number set so low, expecting 3 goals here on Saturday is the handicap.

EPL Pick: Over 2.25 -118 (Pinnacle)

Sunday, August 16
Manchester City vs. Chelsea (NBCSN, NBC Sports Live Extra, Telemundo (US); Sky Sports 1/HD UK, Sky Go UK, SKY GO Extra, NOW TV (UK); 11:00 a.m. ET/8:00 a.m. PT): Defending English Premier League champions Chelsea (26-9-3, 73 GF-32 GA last season) head to the Etihad Stadium in Manchester on Sunday to face last season’s 2nd place club, Manchester City (24-7-7, 83 GF-38 GA) in the marquee game of the weekend in England’s top flight of football. The story here for the Blues (0-1-0, 2 GF-2 GA) here is that they’ll be without starting GK Thibaut Courtois who will be serving his 1-game Suspension for a foul on Swansea City’s Bafetimbi Gomis in Chelsea’s 2-2 Draw with the Swans at Stamford Bridge on Saturday on Matchday 1. So, backup GK Asmir Begovic will have to be on point and AMF Eden Hazard (+225 , Anytime Goalscorer, Sky Bet) and Striker Diego Costa (+150), who is still nursing a Hamstring injury, will have to find a way to try and get one past Citizens GK Joe Hart here at the Etihad Stadium in Sky Blue Mancunia. With Hart, captain Vincent Kompany, Sergio Agüero (+150) for the big goals, but Wilfried Bony (+175), David Silva (+275), new-signee Raheem Sterling (Liverpool, +187) and Yaya Touré, who had 2 goals for City in its 3-0 cleansing of West Bromwich Albion on Monday in its opener, this team is loaded and probably should be the Premier League odds favorite to win the league.

EPL Picks: Manchester City +122, Under 2½ -114 (Pinnacle)

English Premier League 3-Team Sides Accumulator: Manchester United -159/Norwich City +211 /Manchester City +122 (Pinnacle)
