Borussia Dortmund plays host to Aresenal at the CHLG Group Stage for a Champions League battle. Where have we decided to place our money for our soccer pick?

He may be patriotic in all things football but your Humble Handicapper serves no other majesty than the King of Profit when it comes to football betting, and he will serve his royal master well when Arsenal take on Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

These two sides sit atop of Group F but there’s next to nothing between them. They may be level on points but Dortmund have a better goal difference than Arsenal, having scored six and conceded just three, Arsenal have scored the same number but conceded one more.

Their last meeting ended 2-1 to Dortmund after Robert Lewandowski's late strike at the Emirates Stadium ended Arsenal's impeccable start to their Champions League campaign. But that result threw Group F wide open with three sides tied on six points.

The Gunners will want revenge with a capital R as they were more than a match for last season's beaten finalists for long spells and game winner Lewandowski would have counted himself lucky to still be on the pitch following an earlier elbow on Laurent Koscielny.

Injuries ahoy!

Just to keep thing interesting, the London club will be missing Jack Wilshere for their Champions League fixture against Dortmund on Wednesday after he rolled his ankle in training. What’s more Arsenal will also be without Theo Walcott, Lukas Podolski, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Abou Diaby.

The soccer odds aren’t sure what impact that will make as an Arsenal win is offered up by the sportsbooks at 54/13, a draw is at 16/5 and a home win is at 8/11.

However, home comforts

Dortmund will be aiming for their eighth home Champions League win in a row, and will not roll over and let Arsenal tickle their belly.

Narrows margins in the world of soccer betting

It’s very much honours even between these sides looking at the last three meetings, we have one draw and a win for each of them. What’s more the last two wins have been by the same scoreline; 2-1. A repeat of that score is offered up at 16/1 for Arsenal and 7/1 for the home side.  The meeting back in September 2011 ended 1-1 and that score is offered up also at 7/1.

Arsenal have only won three of their last five while Dortmund have won their last four. The bookies still think this is a tricky one to pick (not), the Gunners winning both halves is at 7/1, while the home side doing the same is at soccer odds of 6/4. If you want wild soccer picks go for the home side leading the break and Arsenal taking it at the 90, that’s at 40/1!

But still…

Casting all of the above to one side your Humble Handicapper reckons that the biggest factor will be the distraction of the Premier League for Arsenal, and we’ll see a home victory as Arsenal prepares for the big one back home next weekend (man Utd).
