Soccer Odds & Predictions: Best Bets Across European Leagues

Paul Pogba lamenting after a draw

All the major European leagues are back in action this weekend after a two-week international break, and there are plenty of exciting matches for fans to get their teeth into. Some of the top clubs are overwhelming favorites soccer picks to win their matches against lesser opposition, but there is still plenty of value to be had when you dig a little deeper.

Premiership

The biggest game of the weekend sees Liverpool host Man Utd in a clash between fierce local rivals. Liverpool is in sensational form and comes into this match on a five-game winning run. Man Utd are tricky customers but have been inconsistent this season, and their creaking defense might struggle to contain Liverpool’s dynamic attack. One thing we should see in this match is goals: Liverpool has scored 18 and conceded 10 in seven games, while Man Utd has scored 13 and conceded eight. The over 2.5 goals looks a great bet here at 1.81. A Liverpool win is another good option at 2.21. In-form Tottenham, another team on a five-match winning streak, travels to West Brom and should have enough about them to win it, making the soccer odds of 1.80 look very attractive. Burnley plays Southampton and while they haven’t been great this season, they are a tough nut to crack. It took Arsenal until the 90th minute to score a last minute winner against Burnley, while Sean Dyche’s men are the only team to beat Liverpool. Southampton should win it and are favorites, but if they do it should be by a narrow margin, making the 1.75 you can get on a Burnley +2 on the handicap look attractive.

La Liga

This is a tough one to bet on this weekend because the top three sides – Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, and Barcelona – all face pretty feeble opposition and are just 1.14, 1.4 and 1.13 respectively to win. You could go for a treble and it would probably pay off, but Real and Barca’s form has been patchy of late and one might let you down. The one that offers most value is Real Madrid away at Real Betis, where you can get 1.4 on a Real Madrid side that have drawn their last four games in a row. That form should set alarm bells ringing but they are the champions of Europe, they have Cristiano Ronaldo up front and they have to get back to winning ways soon, so it looks a pretty good price. With Atletico and Barcelona, you would have to give a handicap to make it worthwhile. Atletico has won five of the last six and the team is at the top of the league, while Granada has lost five of their last six and are at the bottom of the league, so Atletico should win comfortably. Atletico beat them 2-0 away from home last season and then 3-0 at home. They have been in even better goal scoring form this season and should win comfortably. Atletico -2 is 2.20 with Paddy Power and that looks interesting, or a more cautious option is Atletico to win to nil at 1.50. Barcelona should also win their match against Deportivo comfortably after beating them 8-0 last time they played. The time before that, however, it ended in a 2-2 draw at the Nou Camp, and there is always a danger that Barca can let you down, as they did last time out in losing 4-3 to Celta Vigo when they were expected to win heavily. If you want some value out of this game you’ll have to give Barcelona a -2 handicap to get 1.91. Another interesting match sees eighth-placed Eibar host Osasuna, who are second from bottom, having lost four and drawn three of their seven matches. Eibar is 1.80 to win and can pull it off.

Serie A

Juventus are top of the league and in superb form. They play Udinese, who they beat 4-0 last time the two met, and they should win this one with relative ease. The 1.90 on a Juventus win to nil looks fantastic value. Second-placed Napoli host third-placed Roma, and the momentum is with the away team, who beat Inter 2-1 last time out. Napoli has lost their last two and saw star striker Arkadiusz Milik suffer a bad injury during the international break. They are favorites, but Roma can get a result here and the 1.87 on a Roma-draw double chance looks interesting. You would fancy Genoa to beat second bottom Empoli at 1.80, Sassuolo to beat bottom club Crotone at 1.50 and Lazio to beat Bologna at 1.55, so you could try a treble or doubles there. Torino travel to Palermo in great form, having won their last two to spring them up to seventh in the table. Palermo has taken just six points from seven and is the third bottom, so the odds of 2.05 available on Torino look great to be a soccer pick.

Bundesliga

Koln is in the top four, still unbeaten and is the only team to take points off Bayern Munich this season. The play an Ingolstadt side that has lost their last five games. A Koln win looks likely and the odds of 1.83 are great. Bayer Leverkusen played some great football to beat Borussia Dortmund last time out and should be able to keep it up away at Werder Bremen, where they are 1.74 to win. Borussia Monchengladbach is fresh from a 4-0 hiding at the hands of Schalke, but they can bounce back with a home win over bottom club Hamburg (1.70).
