There are too many matches to try to evaluate all of the games going on and pick out a winning bet in each. Instead, our capper looks to cut down the number and bet on games that he has some insight on.

Unfortunately, that does mean saying goodbye to matches like Sparta Prague v Hapoel Beer Sheva and Astra v Plzen.

Obviously, the Fenerbahce v Manchester Utd is the big draw of the round but I’m discarding that one as well, simply because Manchester United are so difficult to read right now. They could put in a fantastic performance (like we saw from them in the last round) or they could fall on their faces and disappoint everyone who backs them with their hard earned cash.

Despite that there are a couple of “big name” sides I will be backing to come through with the points in this round. Read on to find out who they are:

 Sassuolo v Rapid Vienna

These two played out a draw last time they met but in my article before that game, I talked about how I liked the approach that Sassuolo and their coach are taking. It’s not all about short-term gratification for them and they’ve shown that by being promoted to Serie A and then more than holding their own.

This is an improving side and as they are now at home, I really believe they can pick up the win this time round. Bet365 are offering odds of 1.95 for the home win and I’m having a taste of that.

 Austria Vienna v AS Roma

These 2 sides played out an entertaining 3:3 draw last time out in a game that certainly caught me out. I thought Roma were the better side in that match up and I still do. One losing bet doesn’t put me off backing the same side if the circumstances seem right so once again I’m backing Roma to win (1.65 at bet365) and will be expecting them to bring home the bacon this time.

Free Soccer Pick: AS Roma Best Line Offered: at Bet365

Nice v Salzburg

Nice have been the surprise package of Ligue 1 this season and have even managed to get Mario Balotelli playing well again, something that they should win a trophy for on its own!

They achieved an away win at Salzburg in the last round without Balotelli on the pitch, now he’s back and able to play they could do even better.

It’s tempting to dip into the Asian Handicap market but I’m going to resist that and stick with a straight Match Odds bet on the home side. 1.83 with Pinnacle.

 Southampton v Inter Milan

Southampton was unlucky not to win the last time these two met. They dominated the game but ended up going home without a point after Candreva scored what ended up the winner.

Just like the Roma choice, I won’t let a good bet be ruled out by a previously disappointing loss. I’m not doing anything silly like doubling down, instead, it’s a simple match odds bet on a Southampton win. This is my last bet of the round and at 1.75 with William Hill, I’m happy there’s a little value in there.
