Sunday’s round of Copa America betting serves up a couple of tantalising fixtures for soccer bettors to sink their teeth into. Here we preview these and offer up our choice soccer picks.

Mexico vs. Uruguay
Mexico and Uruguay are indisputable powerhouses in their respective territories, CONCACAF and CONMEBOL. Their clash on Sunday marks the start of Group C action and, predictably, the two nations are expected to clinch the top spots in their section, one way or another. Uruguay are matched at +100 while Mexico are matched at +120 to win Group C; the slight difference in their price tag is literally a moot point. Either one of these can win it, really.

It follows, therefore, the premium on the win here couldn’t be any greater. The winner of this matchup is more likely than not to also win Group C. Go on, call it the section decider. It’s exactly what this is.

So on to match betting markets where things get kind of interesting. As mentioned above, Uruguay are slight favorites over Mexico to win Group C but it is Mexico that has the slight edge in match betting markets to win in 90 minutes. Talk about contrary betting outlooks.  Mexico are priced from +142 to +165 or thereabouts depending on your choice sportsbook to win in 90 minutes while Uruguay are priced from +170 to +215 soccer odds to win in 90 minutes, and the draw is offered up anywhere from +200 to +230.

One of the main reasons why Uruguay’s stock is undervalued so is the fact that Luis Suarez is slated to miss the group stage of Copa America, including this match obviously. However, Uruguay have plenty other options and lots of quality including Gimenez, Cavani, Hernandez and Godin to name a few. They must still fancy their chances even without their infamous striker.

Overall, it must be said, this is a tough game to handicap. There’s a lot to like about Uruguay and their head-to-head with Mexico comprises of three wins, three draws and three losses. However, Mexico are on an 19-game unbeaten run which includes a nine-game winning streak in the lead up to Copa America. On the defensive side of the ball, they are solid as evinced by the eight clean sheets in their last eight fixtures. Mexico are no slouches and they’ll be tough to beat.

In a sense, it’s totally understandable why Mexico have the advantage on the soccer odds board. They are on good form and that tips the scale towards them ever so slightly on our soccer picks to clinch the narrow win.

Jamaica vs. Venezuela
Jamaica and Venezuela collide in a highly anticipated showdown marking Group C play. As far as the section is concerned, these represent the longshots to advance into the knockouts. Jamaica, however, are coming off an impressive Gold Cup campaign in which they finished runners-up to Mexico. Might they be severely underestimated by odds makers on the soccer odds board, not only in the section but also in match betting markets?

In recent friendly action, Jamaica notched a noteworthy win over Chile, winning 2-1 to the  surprise of the Copa America defending champions. Obviously, it’s just a friendly game but that doesn’t mean it has no bearing. It’s a confidence boost, make no mistake. Jamaica are found at +185 soccer odds with Heritage and as high as +218 with Pinnacle to win in 90 minutes over Venezuela.

Venezuela enter this matchup as the slight favorites trading at +160 odds or thereabouts while the draw is on offers of +200 or higher with various sports betting exchanges. However, current form belies the favorable outlook on Venezuela. They are without a win in their last six fixtures across all competitions and are sat bottom of their World Cup qualifying group. Given their current form, they do look overpriced in our opinion and, as such, we can’t in good conscience recommend them on our soccer picks. Backing Jamaica to win may also be a bit of a long shot and a touch risqué for most soccer bettors but that’s where we’re lining up our soccer picks.
