There's 18 teams fighting to be crowned the king in Germany and it all kicks off on August 9th.

Thanks to your Humble Handicapper the clever better can do as well out of this seasons Bundesliga futures as Germany herself did out of the European Union.

We are under the starters orders for the start of the German football league.

It's the same old story of in Germany where the top three sides qualify for the Champions’ League group stage with a side finishing fourth has a chance to play in the Champions League if it makes through the play-offs. Position five and position six sees a team going to the Europa league

At the bottom the last and the penultimate side get relegated to the second tier while the side that finished in 16th position has the joy of going into the relegation play-offs.

Enough with the technicalities…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?

Last season saw Bayern Munich ran wild away with the championship they finished the season on 91 points with a goal difference of +80 while their closest competition, Borussia Dortmund had to settle for 66 points and a goal difference of +39 . It was a very tight fight for the silver medal spot as a Bayern Leverkusen were very close and finished the season with 65 point.

It's not that much of a surprise that the bookies have Bayern Munich at 9/2 to win the league,  while Dortmund are close behind at 11/2 for our soccer picks, Leverkusen are the really interesting bet at 45/1 while Shalke 04 are at 50/1. The odds on the winner go as far and wide as Braunschweig at 2500/1 but if you're tempted by that sort of bets I presume you're saving your money to invest in a Spanish prisoner style Internet e-mail scam.

If you're interested in the top three finishes you should know that Bayern Munich 1/250 to finish in the top three while Dortmund are 1/10 and Leverkusen are 5/2. But stay away from Wolfsburg in Stuttgart at 6/1 to crash that particular party.

There are three clear favourites for relegation and that's Braunschweig Augsburg and Nurnberg.

And I see no point in betting on anything other than these three sides and can't see anybody else losing too much sleep about the bottom of the table.

If you want to open the betting in the first game of the season you might as well throw everything behind Bayern Munich playing at home against Borussia . The home side are 1/7 to win while the away team is 21/1 to take all three points. A draw which is still pretty unlikely at 17/2 on the soccer betting odds boards.

Soccer Prediction: An efficient victory for Bayern Munich in Germany is likely, with sauerkraut and huge steins for everybody out of your humble handicapper's weddings.
