Two of Serie A's cagiest teams face up this weekend in what could be a tactical battle. William Hill's Lee Phelps has looked through the odds and come up with a stats-based free betting pick.

Serie A throws up two European hopefuls this weekend, with Torino looking at the Europa League and Roma dead set on Champions League qualification.

Torino
As soccer odds makers know, history isn’t on Torino’s side in this fixture, their last league win against Roma dates back to May 2007, with two draws and seven losses for the Granata since that game, it’s even worse when you look at how Roma perform in Turin. They are unbeaten in 13.

Torino’s form has been good though in Serie A, especially at home where they have only lost three all season, to Sassuolo, Hellas Verona and last time out versus Lazio. Drawing has been their main issue, with one more stalemate than win at home.

They made it to the Europa League quarter finals, losing to Zenit 2-1 on aggregate, but now only have the league to concentrate on now, starting here.

Roma
For a team so high in the table it’s surprising that Roma have only scored 15 goals in their 14 away games so far. That could change here, with Torino their favourite opponents in terms of goals scored. They have hit 174 in 139 matches.

You would think they would be hell bent on the three points with Lazio breathing down their neck for that second spot, but Serie A soccer odds makers realize that their high percentage possession game, paired with many home teams who seem happy to sit in and take a point means they have drawn five of their 14 matches on the road this season.

You won’t be surprised to hear they have the second best away defence in the division, with Torino occupying fourth spot in the best home defenses table.

Soccer Picks
This all points to a low scoring match between two sides who could well cancel each other out in a pass-a-thon and both settle for a point in their quests for Europe next season.
