Juventus Soaring
Juventus are soaring in Italian football and they’ll be looking to continue their winning ways on Sunday when they host a stagnating Roma side. Indeed, the Old Lady is unanimously priced as the favorite on the Serie A soccer odds board at SBR’s contributing sportsbooks.

Juventus opened as the -148 favorites to win outright and some sportsbooks have stayed on that price through the week, such as Bookmaker and BetCris. Other sportsbooks have Juventus trading slightly higher: at -150 at Heritage and, even, as high as -166 at The Greek. If Juventus is your choice soccer pick, obviously Bookmaker and BetCris is where the best price is to be had at the moment.

I Bianconeri are sat second in Serie A with a 13-3-4 mark and 42 points. They got off to a slow start on the season after winning the Super Cup over Lazio 2-0. They opened with back-to-back defeats to Udinese and, ironically, Roma, and then went on to tie Chievo before clinching their first win of the season – a 2-0 win over Genoa that marked match day 4. It wasn’t smooth sailing from then on but the defending Serie A champions did start to turn things around and drudged their way out of the league’s basement all the way to the top of the table in true champions’ style.

Recent form has Juventus riding a seven-game winning streak in all competitions, including midweek Coppa Italia in which they defeated Lazio 1-0 to enter the semi-final round. Their last defeat in all competitions came to Sevilla in UEFA Champions League action – a 1-0 loss on the road. However, the result was partly insignificant to the Italian side as they were through to the knockouts but they did miss the chance to clinch top spot in their group.

In Serie A action, I bianconeri are enjoying frightening form. A ten-game winning streak that goes back to October 28, the scene of their last defeat at Sassuolo. Indeed, they are top of the form table in Italy’s top flight with a perfect 6-0-0 record in their last six, which includes scoring 16 goals and conceding just 4. At home their record is 3-0-0 with seven goals scored and just one conceded.

Roma Rotting
Roma are down to fifth in Serie A with a 9-8-3 record and 35 points and which includes a 6-3-1 record at home and a 3-5-2 record on the road. Clearly, Roma’s lofty position inside the Top 6 is down to home form and that doesn’t bode well for their reverse with Juventus this weekend.

Roma caught Juventus at an opportune time: at the start of the season when I bianconeri were still finding their feet and rhythm. The result was a 2-1 home win for Roma. Repeating the success in Turin is going to be an impossible task for several reasons, not least their road form is hardly a ringing endorsement for the upset.

Recent form is modest at best. Although they are undefeated in their last six games they’ve only managed one win and five draws. Those stalemates are proving costly as Roma are now almost ten points off pace-setting Napoli and seven points adrift of Juventus in the table.

It’s no surprise, therefore, Roma are at the disadvantage on the soccer odds board with the road win trading at staggering odds. Pinnacle sports opened with Roma at +498 to win outright but those soccer odds have climbed up to +520, which is the highest price currently trading. Sportsbooks such as Heritage and Bookmaker are offering soccer odds of +455 and +465, respectively.

Soccer Betting Verdict:
By all accounts, this is a game for Juventus to win or lose. The hosts are riding incredible form at the moment and they’ll be looking to continue that momentum at the expense of a Roma side that appears to be stagnating in Italy’s top flight. Of course, the visitors from the nation’s capital won’t be pushovers. They have a penchant for the draw and have frustrated plenty of their opponents – the draw is trading at +292 at Pinnacle and is worth some consideration for your soccer picks. That said with the momentum and the scudetto race heating up only a win will satisfy Juventus.
