Will Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry call their baby Joffrey? The oddsmakers have plenty of name possibilities for seventh-in line to the throne.

Meghan Markle has delighted fans of the royal family by announcing she is expecting Prince Harry’s child. The happy couple only just got married, but they wasted no time in getting down to business and an heir is now due in 2019. Sportsbooks never miss a trick at times like these and they have created a range of novelty betting markets to encourage wagering. The most popular option is betting on the baby’s name and Alice and Arthur are joint favorites at +1200 with Bet365 and William Hill.

The baby’s gender is unknown as that is not revealed until later in the pregnancy, but the books are taking bets on whether it will be a boy or a girl. Most are offering -109 on either outcome, but 10Bet is taking no juice whatsoever and offering +100 on a boy and +100 on a girl. The majority of bets have gone on it being a girl, and that leaves Alice as a popular choice at +1200. Harry’s great-grandmother was called Alice, so it has a royal precedent, and it is a popular name nowadays too.

However, a few books have made Diana the favorite in this market. You can find +1400 on Diana with Sky Bet and +1200 with others, but some are going as low as +600 on that name, while William Hill has just +800. Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, was tragically killed in a car crash in Paris in 1997. Meghan is known to be a huge admirer of her, and it is felt they could honor her memory by naming their firstborn after her.

Another option would be to honor Harry’s grandmother, the Queen, by naming the child Elizabeth, and that is next in the betting at +1600 with Bet365 and various others, along with Victoria, of Queen Victoria fame. Another pair of popular royal names throughout history, Alexandra and James are also +1600 with William Hill. You can find +2000 on Edward, +2500 on Alexander and Frances, +2800 on Francis, +3000 on Henry, +3300 on Grace and +3500 on Mary.

The further down the list you go, the more improbable the names become. Joffrey is +50000, in case they want to name their child after the scheming little psychopath from "Game of Thrones," while Donald is also +50000 in case they wish to honor POTUS. Theresa is +200, along with Barry. You can also find +200 on Tyrone and +500 on Doris. One slightly more sensible option is Charles at +8000, and that is actually the most popular choice among bettors so far, as they believe Harry’s father could be honored in this way.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

Let's get started #Walkabout ❤️ Many gifts and flowers for Mama Sussex and of course Baby Sussex😍💐🎁 #RoyalVisitNZ ;/a>
— look_of_love (@E190518) October 28, 2018
\n\n"}[/]

10Bet is offering +100 on the baby being born in either the morning or evening, while the likes of Bet365 are offering +550 on it being born on any particular day of the week. You can also find +450 on four-hour time slots in which the baby might be born. There are also baby trebles options, each with odds of +6600. For example, you can bet on a boy being born on a Friday between 00:00 and 03:59, or a girl being born on a Tuesday from 16:00 to 19:59, and so on.

One popular option might be the +900 that Sky Bet is offering on the baby being named either Diana or Elizabeth. You can also find +1800 on Meghan to have twins, or +80000 on her to have triplets, and you can request bets too.
