The top billing between Roma and Napoli practically leaps off the soccer betting board as the game to spot this weekend in Serie A. Join us as we breakdown the matchup and serve up our soccer picks.

AS Roma Must Bounce Back
The wholly inconsistent and, at times, off color AS Roma must bounce back in Serie A this weekend when they take on Napoli. Rudi Garcia's boys have had a tough time of late in all competitions and it's going to be incumbent upon them to appease their increasingly disgruntled fans with a solid effort this weekend.

Roma are sat second in the Serie A table, but with a 14-11-3 record and 53 points they are 14 points behind league leaders Juventus in the Scudetto race. Well, it's hardly a race anymore as the Old Lady is sure to win a fourth straight title with just ten games left on the season. Unless something extraordinary happens, which is highly unlikely, it's only a matter of time before Juventus hoist the Serie A trophy. The book may still be open on the Serie A race across sportsbook platforms, but it's just a symbolic gesture: Juventus are the prohibitive -100000 favorites to win it all.

Since the New Year, Roma lost their edge in dramatic fashion. Although they only lost one of their 12 Serie A games to date, they also only won three to the chagrin of soccer bettors. A 3-8-1 record simply isn't good enough and ultimately it cost them dearly, not to mention their backers too.

Last month was particularly painful, let alone unmemorable. It all boiled over when AS Roma were dumped by Fiorentina from Europa League R16 action in a 3-0 defeat in the nation's capital. An outcome that ignited the ire of fans, who after the game (it was reported in various media outlets) demand the players remove their Roma kit, deeming them unworthy of wearing them. Newspapers across Europe were filled with images of captain Totti and his teammates trying to placate and reason with angry and frustrated fans in the stands.

Maybe the post-game chinwag with fans helped because in the last lap of Serie A, the Lupi clinched the third win of their second half of the season account. However, a 1-0 win over relegation threatened Cesena doesn't quite cut it. It's hardly a sign of a turnaround on form that soccer bettors will take stock of.

As the so-called second best team in Italy's top-flight, AS Roma need a signature win and their upcoming home match against Napoli affords such an opportunity. You can back AS Roma at +120 on the Serie A soccer odds across sports betting platforms, if you are so bold.

Napoli Struggling
Napoli have slipped to fifth place in Serie A following a spate of poor results in Serie A last month. They are 13-8-7 on the season and on 47 points, a point behind a surprising Sampdoria (fourth) and five points behind Lazio (third). On the flipside, Fiorentina are nipping at their heels in sixth place and a point adrift. As it is, Napoli are in very real danger of falling out of the coveted European spots.

There are those soccer bettors that would make allowances for this dip, seeing as Napoli are managing several campaigns on various fronts. However, Rafa Benitez's boys are running out of time if they hope to salvage whatever remains of their Serie A campaign and finish inside the Top Three. They are matched at lively +333 soccer odds to clinch one of the top three spots.

Not unlike Roma, March was a particularly painful month for the Partenopei. They only managed one victory, which was a 3-1 win over Dinamo Moskva in Europa League. In domestic action, they went 0-2-2; including last weekend's 2-2 draw with Atalanta at home. Consider this overall dip in form by Napoli, it should come as no surprise they are trading as the large +240 soccer pick to win outright.

Soccer Betting Verdict
Both teams are playing badly right now, struggling on form and confidence which makes a soccer pick recommendation a tad challenging. Roma are after a win over lightweights Cesena, but it remains to be seen whether that is a valid sign of a turnaround. Napoli, by contrast, are after a lacklustre draw to another lightweight Atalanta. It's fair to say, their upcoming game is a tossup. For that reason and, to some extent, because Roma have a penchant for the draw, particularly against top-half teams in the league, we're banking on the draw at +230 for our soccer picks.
