Just eight teams remain standing in this season’s Champions League. On Tuesday, Real Madrid plays Juventus in a repeat of last year’s final, while German champion Bayern Munich travels to Spain to face Juventus. Both games offer pretty good value for bettors, and the away team looks attractive in each instance.

Juventus surged through to the Champions League final last season on the strength of its magnificent defense, which only conceded one goal in six knockout fixtures. Real Madrid then made a mockery of that record by putting four goals past it in a devastating display of attacking prowess. Los Blancos are in strong form once again, having won their last five games and scoring plenty of goals in the process. Cristiano Ronaldo is returning to his imperious best, and he inspired his side to a phenomenal win against nouveau riche PSG in the previous round.

Juventus also performed extremely well to get past a strong Tottenham Hotspur team, and its experience really told in the second leg. Giorgio Chiellini is an absolute rock at the back for the Italians, while Juventus is also extremely strong going forwards. Paulo Dybala will cause all sorts of problems for a slightly leaky Real Madrid backline, while Gonzalo Higuain is a phenomenal striker and the rapid Douglas Costa is a real live wire.

But Real Madrid’s greatest strength is its midfield, and Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Casemiro and Isco should once again dominate the middle. That is what gave Real Madrid victory in the Champions League final, and it could make all the difference again in this game. Real Madrid is the -206 favorite with Pinnacle to advance to the next round at Juventus’ expense, but the odds are far more generous for this first leg tie in Italy. You can get +157 with BetOnline for a Real victory and that looks interesting. If you are feeling more cautious, Real Madrid draw no bet is -120 with Bet365, and both teams to score looks good at -109 with William Hill.

Sevilla v Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich warmed up for this game in style by annihilating Borussia Dortmund 6-0 on Saturday. Dortmund is probably the second-best team in Germany and Bayern utterly destroyed it with a swaggering performance full of incision, dynamism and flair. Bayern has been magnificent since bringing 72-year-old manager Jupp Heynckes out of retirement to take the reins in October. In that time, it has only lost once and has opened an enormous lead at the top of the Bundesliga. Heynckes guided the team to a strong revenge win over PSG in the group stage and it obliterated Turkish champion Besiktas in the last 16 of this tournament. Bayern is the second favorite to win the Champions League at +450, which looks like a great bet, while Sevilla is the +6700 outsider.

Vincenzo Montella’s team almost secured a stylish win at the weekend as it led La Liga leaders Barcelona 2-0 with just two minutes to go, but late strikes from Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi rescued a point for the visitors. Sevilla’s defensive collapse will be a worry to its fans, but it is unbeaten in five home Champions League games this season – including games against Liverpool and Man Utd – so it is in with a chance in this first leg.

But Bayern Munich’s form is absolutely brilliant right now, and it is hard to see it leaving Spain with anything other than a handsome win. That makes the -147 available on a Bayern win look really enticing.
