Both QPR and Everton will be looking at each other's frailties ahead of this crucial Premier League match, but who's the better soccer pick to win out? We have an idea on that and who to back with his free picks on the betting odds.

The defeat to Crystal Palace looked to be the final death knell for QPR in the Premier League, and today's soccer odds reflect their underdog status. Conceding three goals in the first half when you are fighting for your life is unbelievable and the manner in which Rangers’ players’ heads dropped was even worse.

I would be all over an Everton win here for my Soccer Pick here, but they have been away to Ukraine for their Europa League match with Dynamo Kiev.

As I ‘ve said I’m not one of those people who thought Gary Ramsey was a good appointment at Loftus Road, he is far too inexperienced to guide them to safety. You only have to look at his quotes following the defeat to see he isn’t motivating his players:

“There was a heated discussion at half-time against Palace – constructive, but heated – but at least that shows how much people want to stay in this division,” he told the Press. Why weren’t they that angry pre-match?? He continued: “Overall the performances have been good and I've been happy with the way the players have responded. We didn't stick to a few things at Palace and we didn't do ourselves justice on the day, but there was an improvement in the second half. As long as we stick together – the players, squad and staff – I still believe we can get the points we need to stay up, but we are running out of time and the phrase 'must-win game' will be used more and more.”

I don’t buy any of that, but there is some positive news, with skipper Joey Barton, back from a three-match suspension, and Rio Ferdinand, recovering from a bout of flu, are back in contention to face the Toffees.

Roberto Martinez men were the last surviving English team in Europe, by virtue of the Europa League being played on a Thursday, but they bit off more than they could chew with Dynamo Kiev, losing 5-2 on the night and 6-4 on aggregate.

So, it’s back to the league and concentrating on finishing as strongly as possible after a very poor campaign. Everton have lost eight and won one of their last nine Premier League away games and scored just one goal in their last five on the road. So they need a drastic change.

This is an ideal opportunity to make that change, with QPR on a dreadful home run of four straight defeats and no win since December 20th. For me Everton need to get Romalu Lukaku scoring more league goals. He has nine in Europe and eight in the domestic division.

Again like the team, Queens Park Rangers are made to measure for the Belgian. They have conceded the first goal of the game more often than any other Premier League side this season (22) and allowed more shots on target against them than any other team in the Premier League (164).

Soccer picks
The away trip to Ukraine is stopping me backing Everton as Premier League odds favorites here, so I’m going to concentrate on the goals and who will score them. I backed Lukaku to score in Kiev on Thursday at 2/1 and I’m on him here again at 2.8 (9/5).

Free Soccer Pick: Romalu Lukaku to score at any time 2.8 (9/5)
