Borussia Dortmund are gearing up for a visit from defending champions & current Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich. Can Jurgen Klopp's men rise to the challenge? Check our soccer picks for this fixture.

Borussia Dortmund's Bundesliga Resurgence
Unbeaten in seven, more than doubling their points total in six weeks, Borussia Dortmund's resurgence in Bundesliga has been inspiring, never mind imperative after slipping into the relegation quagmire. Jurgen Klopp's Black and Yellows were shockingly at the bottom of the table in February before turning around in form and climbing all the way up to tenth spot, where they are currently sat behind a 9-6-11 mark and 33 points.

Only five points separate Borussia Dortmund (BVB) from European spots in the Bundesliga table, a goal that is now Klopp's top priority for the remainder of the season. Well, that and to some extent DFB Pokal where they are through to the quarterfinals.

The first half of the season was abysmal with BVB collecting just 15 points from 17 games. The second half of the season has been a different story, especially since the start of February when they picked up 18 points in nine games. Overall, this resurgence has seen BVB improve their record at home to 5-3-4 and their record on the road to 4-3-7.

Still, there are major concerns Klopp continues to deal with, some of which are symptomatic of Bayern's incessant raids on his locker room and absconding with prized treasures such as Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski, to name a few. On both sides of the ball, BVB continue to struggle: they've netted just 34 goals and conceded 33 through 26 games. Injury woes also continue to be of concern.

Under all these circumstances and given BVB's current ranking in the Bundesliga table, it's no surprise BVB enter this highly anticipated matchup as the decided underdogs on the Bundesliga soccer odds board, trading at + 250 to win outright. Heck, the draw is trading even higher at +260.

Bayern Munich The German Standard
Undeniably, the measure of all things in Bundesliga, Bayern Munich enter their upcoming clash with Borussia Dortmund as the favourites to win outright, albeit just a smidgen above Even money at +105. The Borussia-Bayern rivalry is special to German football fans and while Borussia's struggles this season are well-known, it's a meeting that can still serve up a competitive football clash according to soccer odds makers and experts alike.

Bayern ride roughshod over German top-flight with a 20-4-2 record and 64 points. They are 10-points clear of their nearest rivals Wolfsburg, with the title almost certainly in the bag. They are 11-1-1 at home and 9-3-1 on the road this season. Impressively, they've accounted for 70 goals (40 at home and 30 away) and conceded a paltry 13 (6 at home and 7 away) through 26 games this season.

That said, they are coming off a shocking home loss to Borussia M'gladbach. A 2-0 defeat at the Allianz Arena that sent seismic shockwaves through Bundesliga betting markets, especially as it followed a week after Bayern effortlessly dismantled a solid Werder Bremen 4-0 at Weserstadion.

Obviously, Bayern Munich will be looking to bounce back at the expense of BVB this weekend. It's also incumbent on Pep Guardiola's boys to keep up the intensity down the stretch as they pursue the treble with Bundesliga, German Cup and Champions League. Last season, they clinched the Bundesliga title in record time, only to lose intensity in all other competitions. They're going to want to avoid a repeat of that disappointment.

Soccer Betting Verdict
At face value this is a clash between the tenth-ranked team and the top-ranked team in Bundesliga; hence, the lopsided soccer betting lines that tips heavily towards the latter, despite being the road team. Based on this actuality, Bayern Munich appear to be the correct soccer pick at +105 to win outright.

It's worth noting the pair currently ranks at the top of the form table. Top placed Bayern Munich boast a 5-0-1 record in their last six games overall, and a 3-2-1 record in their last six at home and a 3-3-0 record in their last six on the road. Second in the form table Borussia Dortmund boast a 4-2-0 record in their last six games overall, and a 3-2-1 record in their last six at home and a 3-2-1 record in their last six on the road.

In this context it's very clear that little separates the pair, which might be encouraging to soccer bettors looking to bank on BVB's tempting +250 soccer odds to win outright. Still, to be fair, it's a long shot soccer pick. Over the course of their improved form, they didn't come up against a team ranked higher than fifth in the table (Schalke 04). The date with Bayern is going to be the litmus test for this improved form, but one it's hard to imagine BVB will pass with flying colours.

There are those soccer bettors that would wager BVB's best shot at a positive result is the draw at +260 soccer odds. Yet, once again, it's hard to imagine Bayern would drop two in a row in Bundesliga. Consider they are still licking their wounds after last week's defeat to M'gladbach and will be looking to atone for that misstep, BVB appear to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, so to speak. One almost fears for them and the outcome of this game, really.
