Sunday finishes with a bang this weekend in the Premier League as the two Manchester clubs go head-to-head. This sports books professional looks at the odds for his free betting pick.

A few seasons ago before Manchester City had won their first Premier League title, many were predicting this fixture would dominate the division for the next decade. That assertion seemed to have slipped with the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson and even a few months ago you would have been hard pressed to make a case for this being a crucial fixture, but here we are.

A point separates the rivals and although both are heavy odds on to achieve a top four place, there is no doubt United would cherish finishing above the champions in their first season under Louis van Gaal’s management.

Manchester United
Ruud Gullit spoke about van Gaal’s style on the BBC’s Match of the Day having watched them beat Aston Villa. He talked about how it isn’t formation, but chemistry his compatriot looks for and it seems as though he has found it.

For so long this season Manchester United looked like strangers on the pitch, devoid of confidence, but with enough world class players to get results. Now, they are purring and seem to be on the front foot in every game. At home they fly out of the blocks, proven by being the league’s highest home first half scorers and having the most goals at their own stadium too.

City have been a thorn in their side recently though. That first title was a bitter pill to swallow, so much so Ferguson felt duty bound to snatch the trophy back before retiring. United have lost their last four league games to the light blue Mancunians and would become the first club to ever inflict five successive defeats on the Red Devils in the Premier League.

They also concede plenty, shipping 11 goals in the last three home derbies.

Manchester City
Manuel Pellegrini’s men have picked up 19 points from a possible 39 since Boxing Day. That is five wins, four draws and four defeats, so keep that in mind when making your soccer picks. Interestingly three of the four losses have come away from home at Liverpool, Burnley and Crystal Palace.

The dip in form has coincided with Sergio Aguero’s goal drought. He hasn’t scored a Premier League goal for over nine hours of football. He has scored against Barcelona and Argentina in that spell, but until he rediscovers his scoring touch, it’s hard to see City troubling the top two again.

If he is going to start finishing the back of the net, maybe this is the game. He has scored four in his last three league games against United. It’s also worth keeping an eye on whether Edin Dzeko starts, with Wilfried Bony an injury doubt. Soccer odds makers realize that Dzeko has scored four times against their city rivals and they have all been at Old Trafford.

Soccer picks
I expect goals in this match. Premier League odds makers know that there have been over 2.5 in each of the last six head-to-heads at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ and both teams to score has paid out in five of the last six too. I’d play the two together at 2.1(11/10).

Let’s not forget my old favorite bookings bet either, City have had more cards than their opponents in 11 of 16 away games in the league. The betting isn’t usually available until the day, so check the prices if you want to back that.

Free Soccer Pick: Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals 2.1 (11/10).
