This week's early Premier League match on Saturday comes from the Stadium of Light where strugglers Sunderland take on Manchester United. The first thing I noticed when previewing this match was that United's were heavy odds-on favorites across the soccer odds board and this really is a lot closer than the bookies suggest.

Game Overview
United are as short as 1.75 with Ladbrokes to get maximum points on the road for just the sixth time this season. After a shaky run, Luis van Gaal's side do arrive in this crucial match in some decent form with just one defeat in their last nine matches. Many will look at that price as the coupon bankers, but I'm not so sure.

In their decent run, their only away win was in the FA Cup against Championship Derby, and in the three Premier League matches, all have ended in draws. I don't think they can be trusted to win this at the short prices. I NEVER like backing odds-on aways in the Premier League; it's the first way to the punting poor house, and I certainly wouldn't be doing so at this crucial stage of the season, especially when the home side is desperate for points for top flight survival.

United backers will point to their amazing record up at Wearside where they've lost just once in the Premier League in the last 20 years, but at this stage of the season, shock results do start to happen and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see the Red Devils come unstuck on Saturday.

Sunderland are a lot better than the general quotes of 5.0 suggest and in recent weeks they've turned in some great performances, without getting the results they've deserved.

In their last home game they totally outplayed Manchester City, but went down 1-0. Last weekend they showed tremendous character to come back from 2-0 down to get a point at Anfield, which will give them great confidence ahead of this one and also for both players and supporters that they can avoid relegation.

Betting Analysis & Picks
It really looks a tricky call for match betting punters. The only price that looks wrong to me is the 1.75 on the visitors, while the best value appears to be in the 2.10 on Sunderland-draw in the double chance market with Bet365.

It's very hard to find a winner in the one, but the one thing that I'm very confident about is the lack of goals we are going to witness and my best soccer pick in the match is the 1.72 with Betfred on under 2.5 goals.

Sunderland have not conceded more than once in their last eight home Premier League games, and with United the second lowest scores in the top half of the table, well, goals look set to be scarce.

Last season, the under 2.5 landing in this fixture for the fifth time in the last six years, and with both teams needing the points for survival and Champions League placings, this looks all set to be a very close one.
