Both Tottenham and Sunderland have disappointed early on as they get set to do battle in a Premier League showdown at the Stadium of Light on Sunday. Let's review the soccer odds.

Odds Overview
The Black Cats are the home team on this occasion, but it's Spurs that gets the favorites tag on the Premier League odds board. Tottenham is listed at right around even money (-105) to pick up all three points at Sunderland.

If you think the value lies with the home outfit, you can find a pretty intriguing price of +250 or so. The O/U for goals is at 2.5 right now, with a little more action coming in on the UNDER (-115) than the OVER (-105).

The Black Cats couldn't have endured a worse start to their EPL season, as they opened with a 4-2 away loss to Leicester City and then followed that up with a bad 3-1 home loss to Norwich City.

We've seen some better form out of Sunderland more recently, however, as they haven't lost in three straight matches across all competitions. The Black Cats tied Swansea City 1-1 at home, crushed Exeter City 6-3 in the Capital One Cup, and then earned a hard-fought point in a 2-2 away draw versus Aston Villa. Yann M'Vila and Jeremain Lens scored the goals for Sunderland in a match that Villa dominated from a possession stand-point. Despite only having 36 percent of the possession, the Black Cats made the most of their few chances in front of goal to get the crucial point.

While most will look at the table and see Sunderland at the bottom, at least they've been able to show some encouraging signs as of late, with the new signings like M'Vila and Lens settling in nicely now. Getting a result against Tottenham would do wonders for confidence, and would extend the Black Cats' unbeaten streak to four matches.

For a team as talented from top to bottom as Spurs, they've really been underwhelming thus far. They're in 16th place in the Premier League, with just three points to show for their efforts in four matches.

We've seen three straight draws out of Tottenham, with those coming against Stoke City, Leicester City and Everton, with the most recent coming against the Toffees at home. It was a goalless draw at White Hart Lane in what was a very even encounter from start to finish; both teams had 50 percent of the possession, although Spurs did manage more chances (eight shots on goal compared to Everton's four).

Amidst this disappointment to start the campaign, it's Harry Kane that has probably struggled most. The young star striker has yet to find the back of the net this season and has largely looked out of sorts up front. Tottenham simply has to get more production out of Kane if they're to move up the table and challenge for the top four.

Premier League Pick
Spurs are the bigger name here and many will see the fair odds on offer and back them to pick up the victory. However, we haven't been impressed at all with how they've played so far this season, so we still think they're overvalued in the soccer odds.

Plus, the Stadium of Light is never an easy place to go, and the Black Cats have already started to perform better after a sluggish start to their campaign. They're unbeaten in three matches and look like they're finally starting to find their footing in the mega tough Premier League .

That being said, we're not going to go as far as to back Sunderland to earn a straight up win. Tottenham is still the more talented team. So, with our soccer picks, we think the best avenue to take will be a draw, listed at approximately +250.
