Saturday’s EPL visit of Swansea to St James Park sees the final game of Newcastle manager Alan Pardew’s touchline ban, but that’s about the only positive for the Newcastle United. Still, your Humble Handicapper knows how to make money out of such misery.

As the EPL season draws to a close there is great excitement and thrills at both the top and the bottom of the table, but for one of the teams right in the middle it’s a dull and disappointing conclusion. Newcastle United (and their fans) must be longing for the season to be over, but they still have four more games to play, the next up being Swansea.

It’s been a pish poor 2014 for Newcastle, all the worse when you consider that their 5-1 Boxing Day, victory against Stoke put them sixth in the table (12 points clear of the Potters). Fast forward to Easter and NUFC have dropped to 9th in the table, just three points ahead of Stoke and 14 points off sixth place. It’s almost, with EPL survival practically guaranteed, that Newcastle dropped the curtain on the season in early January and in fact the Geordie’s  have lost eight of their last 11 Premier League matches, have suffered four straight defeats, conceding 12 goals in the process and are already 7/1 (worth a couple of quid) to be relegated next season.  Their press-blaming manager Alan Pardew, is a “comedy” 250/1 to be April’s manager of the month, ahead of only Sunderland’s Gus Poyet and Villa’s Paul Lambert.

St James’ Park is now full of as much joy as a Morrissey lyric.

Enough with Newcastle’s woes…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?
Newcastle are (slightly) the bookies favourite on this one, as they’re around 7/4 to come out on top. Swansea winning is 8/5 and the draw is at 12/5 on the soccer odds board. Before I go any further, it’s worth noting that Swansea are 12/1 to be relegated (practically safe) ahead of five other teams. Swansea are a very safe bet to be the top Welsh team this term, they’re at 1/33 to be the top Taffs, while Cardiff are 10/1. Still that doesn’t guarantee them safety.  So this game is pretty meaningless, were it not for the fact that Newcastle have never lost five premier League games in a row.

Swansea do have their own problems with rumours of a training ground bust up, but I doubt that will have a huge impact on this game.

The bookies have both sides winning both halves at the same 3/1 odds, which mean that there is very little to separate these two sides. You may be very tempted by a draw, especially as the shortest correct score odds are on 1-1 at 5/1, and you can pick up draw / draw at 9/2.

I think Newcastle will take this one, simply because they can’ t go on losing for ever (say a little prayer) but it won’t be impressive and it won't be decide in  the first half.

You can pick up some decent cash on the game being drawn on the 45 and Newcastle’s on the 90 at 11/2 and I recommend that you make some money off the game going under 2.5 goals at 4/5 for your soccer picks.

Soccer Prediction: Newcastle win 1-0 available at best soccer odds of 9/1 with bet365.
