Odds Overview

Despite the match being played at Old Trafford, Liverpool has a real shot to win in the eyes of soccer oddsmakers. They're approaching +200 to win, with Manchester United at +150 or so and a draw just above +250 on the soccer odds board at a majority of the sites.

Manchester United

At this point, any positivity at all in the Manchester United camp is more than welcome.

Well, a 3-0 away win over West Brom last weekend could end up being the start of something for the Red Devils. It was one of the better displays of the season from David Moyes' men, who looked comfortable throughout.

Phil Jones started the scoring in the first half before Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck added to the Baggies' miseries with two second-half goals. It was all clicking for United, something we've rarely seen in 2013/14.

The Red Devils are still in a very precarious position in the Premier League race though. They're in the sixth spot and are nine points behind fourth-place Manchester City, who by the way also have two matches in hand.

In short, there's simply no room for error for United at this point. They can't really drop any points, especially against the top teams. United's home form also has to be a little worrying for fans, as they've posted six wins, three draws and four losses in 13 matches, a far cry from what we're used to seeing at Old Trafford.

Liverpool

Though crashing out of domestic cups is never fun at the time, it's at least afforded Liverpool the opportunity to focus solely on the league. And the results have certainly been promising.

The Reds are on a nine-match unbeaten run in the league and have won four straight out right. In those four wins they've scored 14 goals, while allowing six. The standout victory, of course, came in the form of a 5-1 dismantling of Arsenal at Anfield.

The last time Liverpool was in action was two weeks ago in a workmanlike 3-0 away win over Southampton. Luis Suarez, Raheem Sterling and Steven Gerrard found the back of the net in the triumph.

That win means the Reds have climbed into a tie with Arsenal in second place, with City just two points back in fourth. They're looking incredibly strong right now and their ambition has been clear to see.

However, Liverpool hasn't been nearly as dominant away from Merseyside this season. Whereas they have a 12-1-1 record at Anfield (scoring 42 goals against 12 allowed), the Reds have a 6-4-4 mark away, with 31 goals for and 23 against. That defensive record is worrying, especially with United seeming to find their way in front of net.

Premier League Pick

There's so much on the line here.

The Red Devils still have time to make up this huge gap, but it's going to take quite the string of results to pull it off. A win over a top four contender in Liverpool would be a great way to keep momentum going after their win over West Brom.

However, there's no doubt the Reds have been playing the better soccer this season and they've had an abundance of time to rest up and prepare for this all-important clash in Manchester.

In the end, we see more fireworks out of Suarez and Sturridge this weekend, leading Liverpool to another great scalp in their quest for the top for our soccer picks. We expect them to get by a United outfit that's been far from convincing at home.
