Chelsea & Manager José Mourinho head to West Midlands to face West Bromwich Albion in this Matchday 3 Premier League fixture, let’s look at all the numbers, trends, angles & make a couple picks.

Odds Overview
West Bromwich Albion vs. Chelsea [Sunday 13:30] (NBC UNIVERSO, NBC Sports Live Extra, Telemundo (US); Sky Sports 1/HD UK, Sky Go UK, SKY GO Extra, NOW TV (UK); 8:30 a.m. ET/5:30 a.m. PT): Defending English Premier League champions Chelsea (0-1-1, 2 GF-5 GA) head to the West Midlands and The Hawthorns on Sunday to face West Bromwich Albion (0-1-1, 0 GF-3 GA) in this Week 3 English Premier League fixture. Premier League odds makers here have made visitors Chelsea -150 favorites here over host West Brom (+450) with the Draw priced at +260 (bet365) with the Total Goals in this contest set at 2½, with the Over priced at -105 and the Under juiced at -117 (bet365). Some Props wagers for this wonderful Week 3 Premier League fixture from West Brom: Both Teams To Score: ‘Yes’ -120, ‘No’-120 (bet365); To Win To Nil: West Brom +900, Chelsea +160 (bet365); Team To Score First: West Brom +220, Chelsea -250, No Goals +1000 (Sky Bet); Draw No Bet: West Brom +340, Chelsea -450 (BetVictor); Chelsea To Win Both Halves: ’Yes’ +320, ‘No’ -500 (Sportingbet); and, To Win To Nil: West Brom +300, Chelsea +500 (bet365).

Chelsea FC
One of the many big stories for Chelsea (11-5-3 Away, 37 GF-23 GA last season) here will be the return of starting GK Thibaut Courtois who served his 1-game Suspension in Matchday 2 (Manchester City) for a foul and Red Card he committed near the edge of the box against Swansea City’s Bafetimbi Gomis in the Blues’ 2-2 Draw with the Swans at Stamford Bridge on Saturday on Matchday 1. And make no mistake about it: After Sunday’s nightmare in Sky Blue Mancunia against City, Chelsea definitely needs the Win and all 3 points here. But with so much pressure on, a tired Manager José Mourinho seemingly cracking, Head Physio Eva Carneiro suspended by The Especially Mad One and the Roster not as strong as past seasons, things are not so good with this storied West London club right now and it’s hard to see how it could immediately get better, with ego in the way. But this is still Chelsea, and with Striker Diego Costa and MF Eden Hazard, the opportunity to create goals always exists although the supporting attackers on Offense like Oscar, Willian, Juan Cuadrado and Ramires have all been underwhelming while playmaker Cesc Fàbregas looks older to start the new season. This lack of flow and struggle to find scorers puts a great deal of pressure on the Defense, and although the Blues have had one of, if not the EPL’s best Defense for a couple of seasons, having AMFs on the Roster like Chelsea does now and not talented players like Juan Mata, Mohamed Salah, André Schürrle and Kevin De Bruyne looks like it could be a fatal flaw made by an accumulation of dumb deals made over the past several transfer windows. A solid favorite to win the EPL by Oddsmakers all offseason, reality and the Roster and Mourinho’s ego and some tough decisions by referees have all added up to Chelsea (+350 to win EPL, Paddy Power; Manchester City +125, bet365) now being looked at in its proper light—as just another one of the Big Four clubs fighting for the English Premier League crown in another season of controversy at SW6.

West Bromwich Albion FC
West Bromwich Albion (11-11-16 in 2014/15) still hasn’t scored a goal this season and that’s not g0od. With a 3-0 Loss to Manchester City here at Home in Matchday 1 followed by a 0-0 Draw at recently-promoted Watford on Saturday at Vicarage Road in the Hornets first EPL Home game since 2007 in which the Baggies preferred to use all their energy on Defense, with GK Boaz Myhill earning the Clean Sheet. So, the Baggies and Head Coach Tony Pulis are still looking for that first score of the new season, and, unfortunately for WBA, a mad Chelsea side heads into The Hawthorns with Courtois coming back. But with Saido Berahino, Rickie Lambert, James McClean, Darren Fletcher, James Morrison and new-signee Salomon Rondon, the Baggies have an attack which can score some goals, but having to face the Citizens in Matchday 1 and then the defending champion Blues here this weekend on Matchday 3 is certainly providing for a rough start from the schedule-maker to start the new campaign. But then again, for quite some time last season, the Baggies (5000/1 to win EPL, Sky Bet) and their fans were worried about possible Relegation so just the chance to still play—and potentially upset—City and Chelsea has to have some value to this WBA. Expect GK Myhill to really be up against it here at The Hawthorns on Sunday night as he was in the opener against Manchester City, although Chelsea seems to have less scorers and players who can put the ball on net than in the past couple of seasons. The Baggies can win this one, but it will probably take some Luck and a bad call or two.

Series Trends and Best Betting Approaches
Overall in English Premier League play, Chelsea is 44-25-33 (171 GF-151 GA) lifetime against West Bromwich Albion and an underwhelming 18-12-21 (63 GF-86 GA) here at The Hawthorns in West Midlands against the Baggies. But over the L22 meetings between the two in league play, the Blues are 17-2-3, although West Brom is 3-1-0 L4 vs. Chelsea here at Home, allowing just 2 goals and rolling the eventual champs, 3-0 in Week 37 last season. So what happens here? It seems the spot on the schedule this season is the Baggies worst enemy here, and that no matter how good West Brom has been over the L4 seasons against the Blues, Chelsea really needs a Win here for both their heads and the points. A Loss would be devastating, and expect the Blues to play much better defensively against West Brom, although some shakiness is to be expected considering what happened against City (captain John Terry was subbed out), the site (The Hawthorns) and the reality that Swansea City and the Sky Blues both had an abundant number of quality attempts on goal while Chelsea struggled to do so in both games. The big things here will be the emotion and fear driving the Blues, the return of Courtois and the fact that West Brom hasn’t scored yet and should be pressing to do so. With so much seemingly at stake for Chelsea, expect Belgians Hazard and Courtois to rise to the occasion and help get the victory.

Predicted Final Score: West Brom 0 Chelsea 2

Premier League Soccer Picks: Chelsea -147 (Sky Bet), Under 2½ Even at Bet365, Chelsea To Win Both Halves 'Yes' +320 (Sportingbet)

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":2864517, "sportsbooksIds":[43], "LineTypeId":2, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]
