The league leaders face a QPR side with some life left in them this weekend, but there is a chasm in class. How does that affect the odds for William Hill's Lee Phelps free betting pick.

This London derby has plenty riding on it for both clubs. QPR are suddenly building some momentum after the big win at West Brom and the draw at Aston Villa, whilst Chelsea are within touching distance of winning the Premier League title.

Finally Chris Ramsey is getting some reward for the hard work off the pitch and it has come in the shape of goals and plenty of them. He watched his side rattle four past a West Brom team who had kept clean sheets galore in the preceding games under Tony Pulis and then went to Villa and scored three.

The negative is of course allowing Benteke to score a hat-trick, if you score three anywhere, you really should win the game, but a point is better than nothing. Ramsey’s reign at Rangers has seen them score in every single match and that must continue at home to Chelsea if they’re going to have any chance against the best team in the land.

They have only managed one goal against the last three opponents at Loftus Road though (Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton) losing all three by two goals to one. The manager knows defensively they can’t contain Chelsea on current form: “The problem is teams at the bottom have defensive frailties and that was obvious to see tonight. When you’re playing against players who can pull out a bit of magic, you have to hold your hands up.”

He was talking about Aston Villa there, not Chelsea by the way! The best QPR can hope for is that their head-to-head record holds firm. They have kept a clean sheet in three of their last four Premier League matches at home to Chelsea (W2 D1 L1).

Rangers have to come out and attack Chelsea at some point in this game, so I see Jose Mourinho setting his team up to put lots of pressure on that fragile defence. Watching them last week was a fantastic example of how to unlock a stubborn away team (Stoke).

They pressed high up the pitch and forced mistakes and then when Stoke sat back, they allowed them the ball for a spell and then switched back to a high pressure game, once again forcing an error.

I don’t see how QPR can last long enough under that kind of pressure, especially if they are stretched because they are looking for goals.

Interestingly Chelsea have conceded in six of their last seven games against Rangers in the top-flight, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see both teams scoring here, maybe looking further back into midfield or defence for a goal-scorer, with no Diego Costa is worthwhile too.

Rangers have struggled to pick up runners from midfield this season, so Oscar (3.8) or Willian (5.5) are nice prices to get in on the action.

Soccer picks
I like Chelsea to win here for my soccer picks and expect goals again, so the leaders winning and both teams to score at 3.6 (13/5) is decent. If QPR are to score then I’ll stick by Charlie Austin who has 17 of the team’s 38 goals. He is a huge 5.5 (9/2) to score (he scored at Stamford Bridge in a 2-1 defeat earlier in the season.)
