West Bromwich Albion
Tony Pulis’ Baggies got off to a rocky start in England’s top flight taking just a point from their first three fixtures. They finally clinched their first Premier League win last weekend when they beat Stoke City 1-0 at the Pottery, but that lone win certainly isn’t enough to assuage relegation fears, which reared its ugly head on the back of their disappointing August. Prior to the win over the Potters, the Baggies won their League Cup clash  over Port Vale, but not without some hardship as it went to extra time and penalties.

Sat in 15th place in the table, the Baggies sport a 1-1-2 mark and four points, which sees then just two points clear of the drop zone. As it is, they are the sixth favourites to be relegated at +275 soccer odds at Bet365.

Of most concern to the Baggies right now is home form, which is a bleak 0-0-2 in the early goings, compounded further by scoring just two goals and conceding six. Some of that indignity was thrust upon them by the top two favourites to win the EPL title, Manchester City and Chelsea, and must be taken into consideration. The pair shipped the entire total of six goals at the Hawthorns.

Southampton’s start to the season was similarly bleak with just two points in their first three fixtures. That poor run of form was snapped in the last round of EPL betting when they beat Norwich City 3-0 at home, but how much stock can fans put in a win over a side that is widely accepted to be a lightweight is debatable. It certainly not enough to be considered as proof of turnaround in fortunes.

Some of the early results were right headscratchers: a scoreless draw to promoted side Watford on the road and a lacklustre 3-0 defeat to Everton at home. Over and above the Saints’ domestic disappointments, they were also eliminated from Europa League before the group stage, which is set to get off the ground in the coming week.

As it is, Southampton are sat 10th in the EPL table, but on a tenuous five points after a 1-2-1 mark. Just three points separate the tenth-placed Saints and the 18th-placed Potters, meaning their mid-table position is precarious at the moment and their fortunes could turn on a dime if they don’t find some measure of consistency.

Soccer Betting Verdict:
By all accounts, this should be a nervy affair between two sides that are very much under the cosh in the early goings of the season. Something is going to have to give, obviously. Tony Pulis and the Baggies have home advantage as they look to clinch their second straight Premier League win of the season, third straight across competitions. But soccer odds makers aren’t giving it to them at all. They are installed as the considerable underdogs at +220 to win outright, which is also the same price tag the draw is trading on at Bet365. Southampton, meanwhile, enter this game as the notional underdogs at +150 soccer odds, despite being winless on the road in the first four rounds (0-2-0). Clearly, bookies are giving the Saints the slight edge here.

For our money, we are leaning towards the home side. Head-to-head between this pair tips in favour of the Baggies, who are undefeated against the Saints in the last two meetings behind a 1-0 win at the Hawthorns and a scoreless draw at St. Mary’s last season. Our top soccer picks here are to take West Brom to win outright at +220 or combined double result play with West Brom or Draw at -163 at Bet365.
