The sports gambling world is no longer limited to sides, totals and props. You can now bet as the game is in progress and below we will reveal a few of the best live betting practices.

Players Have the Jump
Live betting is a relatively new aspect of sports betting and before you do anything, make sure that the sportsbook you are using has this option available in the sport of your choice. The best sports betting sites all have live betting to one degree or another and it is in your best interest to scout them out, listen to what other gamblers are saying and pick a few that will allow you to make money as the game progresses.

One of the best live betting practices comes as a result of a player scrutinizing a game as it is in progress and focusing on one event. The oddsmakers have to deal lines on multiple events simultaneously, and cannot detect patterns as thoroughly as the handicapper watching each play as the game unfolds. Use this as an advantage and stick with one event to gain a clear edge over the bookmaker dealing the lines.

Arbitrage Happens
Arbitrage, or “middling” as it is known in the sports gambling parlance, can be a lethal tool to be used in your daily or weekly battle against the bookmaker. Assume you bet the Knicks +9 before the game begins and midway through the third quarter those underdog Knickerbockers are winning straight up with the live betting on the opposing team being dealt at -2 in between timeouts. You would find yourself in the ideal spot to hedge your bet and wager on the favorite at -2 before action resumes.

Now, you are the king of the world because you have created a seven-point middle. If the favorite wins by 3, 4,5,6,7 or 8 you will win both wagers and middle the book. If the favorite wins by two or nine points you will have pushed either your live bet or your original bet, respectively, and won the other. There is, of course, the chance that the favored team either doesn’t win by two or the underdog in your original bet loses by more than nine but you have eliminated the potential for a straight up loss on your original wager of Knicks +9, save for the vig.

Always take advantage of the numbers that live wagering allows and keep a sharp eye on injuries as the oddsmakers hanging these numbers can sometimes be unaware of the nuances of a game. The linesmen have their hands full and are busy dealing live numbers on all the games. Pick one, stick to it and hammer a number if it looks weak. Now go get it!
