Drone racing is not only happening but Pinnacle is hanging odds on the 2016 Drone Racing World Championships first event at the Kualoa Ranch in Hawaii (October 20-22). Let’s find out what this is all about!

Drone Racing – Yeah, It’s a Thing!

We have all heard of drones, whether they are Amazon’s new method of getting goods to consumers or the military using them to hunt down the bad guys. But a growing number of people are using them as a hobby. Think of high-tech kite flying and now you’re getting the picture.

Yet, drones are becoming the latest rage to not only fly but compete as well. It’s simply another way of nerds and geeks proving that competition isn’t just the province of jocks and highly skilled athletes. We have witnessed Battle Bots over the last few years but now there’s drone racing!

Pinnacle Leading the Way

Okay so it’s one thing to have drone racing but it’s another to have one of the premier sportsbooks become involved in the gaming aspect of the latest sport to come to market. Let’s hear from a few Pinnacle executives as to why they became involved and how they figure out the odds applied to drones made by such companies as DJI with their Mavic Pro or Go Pro with their new Karma model.

“Drone Racing has come from nowhere to be ‘the next big thing’ in tech sports innovation. It’s fast-paced, hugely exciting and has a low entry barrier for new competitors. Plus the capacity of the drones to send live footage from within races makes for incredibly engaging streamed content. We’re happy that Pinnacle is the first bookmaker to offer our leading odds on a new sport with such huge potential”. – Harry Lang, Marketing Director at Pinnacle.

"When pricing the Drone Worlds it was quite exciting to delve into a new sport with such potential. What I was looking for was overall progress and possible improvement in piloting race-to-race coupled with recent wins and overall rankings. Using the information available I was able to compile our opening odds, but given the high-speed and constantly changing tracks I’m expecting plenty of action from both drone experts and fans alike”. – Pinnacle’s Drone Racing Trader

These new age drones come complete with high-definition cameras attached and a backyard enthusiast can start droning around for about a thousand bucks. If you want more information about how you can bet on these drone races check out Pinnacle and get in on the game.
