With TFC being a team which seldom Draws, is taking a chance on the homeboys on the three-way line against one of the league’s two new teams? Logic says Toronto is a good pick in this situation.

Odds Overview
NYCFC at Toronto FC [Sunday 00:00] (MLS Live, Sportsnet 360, YES Network (USA): 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT): Toronto FC (6-1-5, 19 GF-16 GA) plays host to the expansion NYCFC (3-5-7, 15 GF-19 GA) on Saturday night in the MLS Week 17 Eastern Conference fixture from BMO Field in Toronto. Oddsmakers have made host Toronto FC +137 favorites here over visiting New York City FC (+350) with the Draw priced at +275 (bet365). The Total (Goals) here has been set at 2½, with the vigorish priced at -110 for both prospective Over and Under bettors (William Hill). Some Props wagers for this weekend game from the nation that gave us Hockey, Celine Dion and Ketchup-flavored Potato Chips: Both Teams To Score: ‘Yes’ -120, ‘No’ -110 (Ladbrokes); Draw No Bet: Toronto FC -333, NYCFC +240 (bet365); and, To Win To Nil: Toronto FC +200, NYCFC +1000 (Coral).

New York City Football Club
First-year MLS club NYCFC (1-2-4 Away, 5 GF-9 GA) is waiting for former Chelsea FC star midfielder Frank Lampard to join Spaniard David Villa (4 goals) and the new MLS team next month (July), but, for now, this team is actually playing pretty good soccer despite its’ 10th-place in the Eastern Conference standings, winning its L2 games (3-1 over Montreal Impact, 2-1 over Philadelphia Union) and earning 7 of its 14 points in its L3 games. Coached by Jason Kreis, NYCFC (66/1 to win MLS Cup, bet365, BetVictor, best odds) also gets Offense from players like Patrick Mullins (3 goals), Mehdi Ballouchy (3 goals) and Mix Diskerud (2 goals), and with GK Chris Konopka (6 stars, 18 saves) now a regular in the club’s Starting XI, things are looking up for this team who play in Yankee Stadium, and this 20th MLS team should be a big draw when English Premier League legend Lampard—who last played for Manchester City, one of the owners of NYCFC (thus the Sky Blue kits)—finally comes to the Big Apple in the Summer.

Toronto FC
There is always one weird team in soccer leagues which (almost randomly) draws less than the other teams in its league and this year in the MLS that weird team is upstart Toronto FC (6-1-5, 19 GF-16 GA)—maybe the most underrated team in this burgeoning North American soccer league. Why? Nobody knows, it just happens and some would say we expect a rash of TFC Draws in the Future, but we will see. For now, a team with 11 decisions (Won or Lost) in 12 games (91.67%) seems like a good thing for bettors, especially on the Three-Way line, as blindly discarded the Draw as a potential outcome creates more (perceived) value in choosing either the Favorite or the Underdog. Here, the hosts Toronto are the obvious Favorites, and at -137 (bet365) on that aforementioned Three-Way line, it seems TFC holds great value, especially against an expansion team with just one Road win and only 5 goals in 7 Road contests. And Toronto is really playing some good soccer, winning 3 straight (DCU 1-2 TOR, TOR 3-1 SJ, TOR 1-0 POR) and 5 of its L7. Leading the charge for TFC has been star Sebastian Giovinco, who has scored 7 goals and tallied 6 assists in his L12 games.

Along with Giovinco, American forward Jozy Altidore (5 goals) has also been a source of Offense for this Toronto FC team which starts off in 3rd place heading into this Week 17’s late of games. Another American, stud Michael Bradley (1 goal), Warren Creavalle (1 goal), Luke Moore (1 goal), Jackson (1 goal), Benoit Cheyrou (1 goal), Justin Morrow (1 goal) and Robbie Findley (1 goal) also give this team a really nice nucleus and winning the MLS Cup (20/1 BetVictor, best odds) certainly isn’t out of the question and breaking off a little piece of that 20/1 (if you can find it) is suggested at this point in time. This team is pretty darn good and still under the radar.

Current Form, Series Trends, Conclusions
These two teams will be meeting for the first time ever in this game. Toronto (WLDWWW) has interestingly only played 3 games at Home so far this season—as opposed to 9 on the Road—and TFC is 2-0-1 (5 GF-3 GA) in those games, so the Home crowd will look forward to seeing their team and will be thrilled they are riding a 3-game win streak and playing a team like NYCFC (LDLDWW). It’s hard to tell if this game is played tight and ends with around 2 goals or opens up and has much scoring, so it seems much safer to take the Home side and the better team here and just lay the lumber. Also suggested another soccer pick below which is a Prop Wager on Toronto FC ‘To ‘Win to Nil’ over NYCFC (+200, Coral), and the way TFC has been playing, it should somehow find a way to win here against NYCFC, probably somehow involving the sensational Giovinco once again and with Konopka proving once again he deserves to start in goal for Toronto FC.

Predicted Final Score: Toronto FC 2 NYCFC 0

MLS Soccer Pick: Toronto FC -137 (at Bet365, best odds), Toronto To Win To Nil +200 (Coral)
